Originally, there was a free parking lot, so I booked a hotel so far away, but I didn't expect that there were black people organizing activities here for a few days. The breakfast was very noisy, and these black people were also very rude and smelly.

Yes, we flew by LAX but we drove & stayed here after arriving almost midnight so traffic was barely there. We left really early for a 6am flight at LAX on our way back so traffic was not there. The hotel was simple and clean; we were out and away to our destinations most of the time. The bathroom can use a vanity table, actually. Breakfast was spartan, to say the least. But we really enjoyed our stay as they clean & organize the room every day. Friendly non fussy service. Be ready with your IDs. Don't expect something grand; I was told they used to be part of the Super 8 chain but is now independent. We never got to use the swimming pool. We also saw a number of places to go for food and some shopping very near this hotel, which has one of its sides actually by the freeway.

We stayed 7 days so we were able to assess over the long term. Check-in was a breeze and each of the front-desk staff was polite and friendly. They were helpful and accommodating no matter the reason for the encounter, including a successful dry cleaning job overnight. The hotel lobby, breakfast room and lobby were homey and clean. The room was more than comfortable and spacious. It was clean and well kept. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioner was upgraded and QUIET—imagine that!!! You are able to control its functions also! Such a concept!!! Laundry facilities, although expensive at $4 per 30 minute wash and $4 per 45 minute dry worked as expected and completely dried clothes in one 45 minute drying session. One suggestion is that the washer needs to have the rubber around the front door sanitized once a week by housekeeping or other such service. This would eliminate the odor in the washer. I used a 99% sanitizer in the washer for each load, which worked adequately. The housekeeping staff was also exemplary. They were accommodating to my every request and went out of their way to make sure adequate supplies were placed into the room without being asked. They were respectful of sleeping hours but seemed to always be nearby whenever I needed something, whether it be extra or clean towels or an unexpected bed change. Thank you Ayres, We will certainly be back during our next visit to California.

A few good things to say about this hotel and a few bad things. First of all, watch out for the wifi fees. Every U.S. hotel where I've stayed in the past 20 years has had free wifi. I think this hotel is stuck in the 20th century. The hotel's wifi registration page says Bonvoy members get free wifi, but it won't grant you access until you choose one of the paid options from the drop-down menu. I called the front desk. They confirmed my Bonvoy status and assured me that it was just a software issue and the charges would not appear on my bill. When the charges *did* appear on my bill, archaically labeled ”Telephone” charges, I insisted they remove it, which they did, but without apology. I tried to explain to the manager that wifi is a basic hotel service -- like electricity and plumbing -- and that needs to be included in the cost of the room. He said, ”It's a standard charge at all our properties.” Not sure if ”all our properties” means all Sheratons, but if so I certainly will think twice before staying at a Sheraton again. Then there's the parking fee. The lady at the front desk when we were checking in said there would be a $16/day charge to self-park my car on-site. That seemed surprising, but I figured I didn't have a choice. Maybe what she meant to say was that valet parking would cost $16/day and self-parking on-site was free. But when no charge appeared on my bill for parking, I didn't ask questions. The two computer terminals at the business center were in different states of confusion when I went to print my boarding passes, but someone from the front desk was quickly able to get one of them set straight. There was only one architectural design flaw that concerned me -- there are no stairs. Oh, there's a fire exit, but it's essentially a fire *escape* -- one-way outbound and not into the lobby. So if the 3 elevators at this ~300-room hotel get backed up -- which happened to us when an entire summer camp of teenagers staying the hotel showed up all at once -- there's no ”I'll take the stairs” option. On the plus side, the rooms were quite clean and spacious, had complimentary bottled waters and mini-fridges, and had ample electrical plugs for device charging. The food in the restaurant was quite delicious and worth the slightly longer-than-expected wait. Not sure if we'll stay here again. Might consider it if the hotel -- and its ”other properties” -- decides to get with the century and stop charging for wifi.

Stayed here for 3 nights to attend a high school reunion. It is conveniently located in a quiet location and close to the freeways. Stayed on the 4th floor. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We had the daily breakfast which had a nice selection. Annie at the front desk was great. She was very friendly and helpful. Marco in the breakfast area was great too. He was very friendly and attentive. He kept everything clean and well stocked. Would definitely stay here again.

EEricI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Barstow, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and outstanding hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The room was immaculate, modern, and incredibly cozy. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, providing the perfect rest after a long day of travel. I was impressed by the thoughtful amenities provided, from the high-speed Wi-Fi to the convenient in-room coffee maker. It truly felt like a home away from home. One of the highlights of my stay was the complimentary breakfast. The variety and quality of the offerings exceeded my expectations. From fresh fruit and yogurt to eggs and waffles, there was something for everyone, and everything was delicious. The location of the hotel was also ideal, with easy access to local attractions and shopping. Despite its proximity to the freeway, the room was wonderfully quiet, allowing for a peaceful night's sleep. Overall, my stay at Fairfield Inn & Suites Barstow was nothing short of outstanding. The combination of friendly service, comfortable accommodations, and excellent amenities made it a memorable visit. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through the area. I can't wait to return!

GGuest UserFrom the beginning of the stay to the end, we were in complete dissatisfaction with the way we were treated. We were encouraged by the great reviews on Google and on hotels.com of this location, but unfortunately do not believe what everyone says. Don’t be fooled! After we checked into our hotel we went to get food. After we got food and returned back to our hotel, we noticed that there were blood stains on our bed sheets and comforter, upon looking closely. We were obviously disgusted by this and did not want to use the bedding if it had blood in it, so we called the front desk at that time. The lady at the front desk said that she is very sorry and that she cannot have a maid replace the sheets because there were no maids at that time. Then I asked for a new set of sheets and bedding so that I could replace it myself. The lady said that she will send over the bed sheets as soon as possible. A guy who looks like a new hire by the name of “Colby, Colvy, or Toby” (one of those names, the hotel staff declined to confirm which one), arrived at our hotel room in about 10 or 15 minutes. With an attitude from when we opened our door to greet him, he gave us just the bare set of inner sheets. Upon receiving the sheets, I asked, “Could we get a comforter?”. He responded back saying, “you didn't ask for a comforter, I am giving you bed sheets.” I said back to him, “we need a comforter because the bloody bed sheets touched the comforter hence we would need all new bedding.” With extreme disrespect and rudeness, he said he will go get it. When he returned with the comforter in hand I had the old sheets that had blood on it, all wrapped up. Then he gives me the comforter. I asked him “what do you want me to do with the bloody bed sheets”, and he said “I don't know what you want me to do with it. It's not my job. You know, I am doing you a favor by bringing you these things right now, this isn't even my job, I work at the front desk.” Obviously I was very upset at this and I found this to be extremely unprofessional as the hotel had blood on the sheets, and they should do anything to fix it and to make sure that we are happy. Obviously in this case this employee did not care. When I replied back saying “that this is a problem that needs to be fixed and whoever's working at the hotel needs to be able to help me and not be rude to me, I was replied back with a statement that I would be kicked out for being too disrespectful. Along with this, this individual decided to curse at me and once he started cursing at me, with fear of safety because my girlfriend was also in the bedroom I closed the door and locked it. Despite me closing the door and locking it, this man continued to curse me out and it seems like he almost wanted to fight me saying “F*ck this and f*ck that, come on man, it's like that?!” Then I give a call to the front desk and the same lady answers again, I explain the whole situation and she apologizes. She confirms to me that compensation will be gi

GGuest UserMy first time to Big Bear Lake. Lagonita Lodge was a good value. I would stay here again. It sits right on the lake. I didn't get a lakeview unit, but you can easily sit on benches in areas provided to get your lake view. It is a typical timeshare type of resort. Mine was a one bedroom with a hide a bed sofa in the living area. Full kitchen with microwave and stove, full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, fully stocked with dishes , silverware, and cooking gear. There did not appear to be air conditioning in my unit, but there was a heater and it worked. In September it gets cool at night. Around 44 degrees. There is an activity schedule of things to do at Lagonita Lodge. I went to the pancake breakfast, ice cream social, continental breakfast, and the lake cruise. Most of these have an extra charge, but it is very reasonably priced. Boat cruise $10 for example. You can fish right off the shore or their dock. Fishing license requited. There is an indoor swimming pool. Outside Jacuzzi, and exercise room. There is much to do in the area. LL is located very near ”The Village” which has many restaurants and quaint shops. I also rode the Mine Shaft Coaster, rented a bicycle and rode the North Shore Bike Path. A 3 hour zipline tour is located nearby. LL rents kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and even a pontoon boat. Their front desk is open 24 hours. Check in time is 5 p.m. And checkout on Friday through Sunday is 10 a.m. Checkout on other days is noon. They have two Internets - the basic which is free, and a higher bandwidth Internet for streaming, etc. that costs extra. My Verizon 4g on my smartphone worked great here, so I just used that. The rooms are a little dated which I have found is typical of a timeshare resort. My room had some door jams that had been jammed and needed some paint. The icemaker in the fridge worked great. There were 2 TVs. One in the living room and one in the bedroom. There was a DVD player. Mine didn't work, but I called and they sent someone up quickly to replace it. They rent DVDs for $2, and there is Redbox in Vons and Stater Brothers. The location is towards the very west end of town. The main grocery shopping centers are on the very other end of town. It is about 10 minutes to get to the other end. Because it was September, the town was not crowded except on weekends. So that part was soooo nice. I am used to Lake Tahoe and this is a much smaller lake and town. I do recommend this resort and would certainly stay here again. If you haven't been to Big Bear Lake, I recommend that you watch some YouTube videos about what to do in Big Bear. There are many with great ideas you will find. My pictures of deferred maintenance are why I did not give Lagonita a 5 rating.

GGuest UserThis older property is literally off of one of the busiest highways in California; traffic fatigue (our reason for stopping) and its proximity to Mountain High, etc. means that it is probably always full--would recommend a reservation. Room was very clean; nothing fancy, nothing more expected. Front desk staff very courteous and professional at check-in and check-out. Next to a gas station and close to a couple of fast food eateries. Two negatives for this place: 1) NO noise attenuation. Besides the traffic noise, you hear everything as people are moving in/out/about--it's like you're in a Foley studio. 2) If you're traveling with dogs, be aware that unpaved areas are covered with goat's head burrs. Be sure to check their paws and your shoes before entering the room or you will spend the next 30 minutes trying to find those burrs on the carpet. If you travel with good earplugs and garden gloves, and just need a place to crash on your SoCal travels, this place will suffice.

GGuest UserThis is not a hotel. The rooms are disgusting. The doors don’t work, the rooms are falling apart, they smell horrible and bed sheets are disgusting. Suspicious characters all over the area, dude smoking pot right outside the room. The front desk agents are kind and helpful, but they are working under abhorrent conditions, they should get a raise. Management needs to shut down operations and do a full renovation. Needless to say I got my money back and ran in the opposite direction.
