Villasanpaolo Resort & Spa
4.4/549 Reviews
Villasanpaolo resort has many positive aspects that make it the perfect location for a week end, or a longer holidays, in Tuscany. First of all the location, in the beautiful Val d'Orcia a few kilometers from San Gimignano or Certaldo. The facility is very nice with a wonderful view that sweeps towards the valley and the hills. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. After a day spent exploring Tuscany we enjoyed the SPA. The SPA is pretty big and is offering several kinds of services. Great and rich breakfast. Food in the restaurant is quite good. Overall worth for price.

The hotel is located near the centre and is located in a date but renovated house. The room is clean enough, the refrigerator bar is empty, the only possibility a small boiler with two bags of tea and two flat-stop coffee, for water you take the rubinette. The small bathroom is also a shower. I was in the room that was taking on the road and early at about 5/6 in the morning. I was wake up from the overwhelming noise of the vagons to collect the waste that waste waste that waste. The very formal and cold welcome at the arrival. There are few explanations about the city and few indications of where to go to refocus. No breakfast included in the price and no indications of agreed premises. Vote quality piece 1 to 10 = 4 only for the position.
Cappuccina Country Resort

The only reason I would consider giving 2 stars is for the views (from the hotel in general our room was overlooking the parking lot) but I couldn’t get myself to do it. By European standards this is definitely not a 4* hotel - 3 at most. The receptionist was not friendly at all upon arrival - no apology for us waiting at least 10 minutes for him to even acknowledge us, and then he practically laughed in our faces when we normally asked if we’re allowed to park down in the rocky driveway and in a very sarcastic tone said “yes, like everyone else” - wonder if that was because he saw our expensive car. The room was very outdated and dirty. Also, how does a 4* hotel only offer bed sheets as duvets in September which is not too warm at nights and has an old ragged cover to put on top of the sheets - there’s nothing you can put the cover into so we had to improvise (photos). We asked if there were any bed linens and were told that they don’t use them here - we think that that’s crazy unhygienic. The bathroom was just plain dirty and unkept. A wierd thing was happening in the room as well - when you turned off a light it would also turn of some sockets in the room that we were using to charge our devices. I wonder whether that was on purpose to save on energy costs. I have a video of this I wish I could post here. The breakfast was very low quality, nothing fresh, just standard cereal an yoghurt, pastries from a plastic bag (smthg like 7days) and AWFUL coffee from a machine (in Italy?!?). The pool area was dirty and unkept. In general we couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Fantastic property with perfect location. Easy parking access and easy to get your luggage to this property. Hostess was great and spoke excellent English. We stayed in an upgraded room that had its own small kitchen and refrigerator. Parking was the key. It can be crazy in these small hill towns in Italy but if you park in P3 as directed, you get a ticket and park. (You don’t pay until you leave. You put tix in machine and it tells you the price. You can pay cash or credit card. 15 euros for first day, 13 for second day and 10 euros for 3rd day and beyond.). Walk across street and take elevator up to the walled city. Roll your bags easily in the paved streets to the property. There are stairs inside to reach your room but the hostess insisted on carrying our bag. Room very clean. Great shower. Slippers. Nice towels. AC worked great. Quiet place. Close to everything. And an extra bonus….it is a 5 min walk from a self service laundry where the detergent, softener and disinfectant are included and automatically dispensed into the washing machine. There are English instructions for use and payment.

We found this hotel by chance and the gentleness of the lady we spoke with by phone has hit us immediately. The hotel is very beautiful, immersed in the green but near San Gimignano, which is perfectly seen from the pool. The room is simple and nice, but it has a window with a view to breathe, spectacular! Breakfast buffet is in a closed room while eating on a beautiful terrace with view of St. Gimignano. The products were all very good, a little advice is to write on a poster what you're eating, for example, there was a salad cake with the pig and only approaching you knew what it was. Another suggestion about breakfast is to put the juices near the coffee machine. The pool is fantastic, immersed in the hills, very relaxing and with a fantastic view. The hotel is three stars, but it deserves more! We will advise anyone who will go to Toscana!

We stayed here for 3 nights, with a baby and our dog. We were very good, staff were very nice, they gave us a bottle of wine at the arrival. We were in 4 adults and a baby, they gave us a 2-storey apartment with 2 bathrooms. everything well structured and equipped, The beautiful and unprecedented thing is that we could bring the dog even on board the pool, not everywhere it is so! That's very advisable!
