Mahogany Bay Resort & Beach Club, Curio Collection by Hilton

The property is still getting built and hasn’t worked out the kinks. However everyone is trying their best.

The staff was nice and Friendly. The cabana in the water on the picture has a fee so don’t be surprised. They are still doing construction… after the construction I’m sure it’ll be beautiful around the area. We loved our little cottage.

We will be returning to Mahogany Bay and I'm confident this is the best resort on Ambergris Caye. This was also our first trip to Belize and we will likely live here part time when we retire. Mahogany Bay is a Hilton Curio Collection property and is built and maintained with observing conservation and sustainability practices. So the reviewer who commented that you have to ask for housekeeping, this is why. It's also why the property is built with sustainable and environmentally mindful materials. So onto the staff. Matthew the concierge is the best concierge I've met hands down. He is connected all over Belize and will have an answer to any question quickly. The entire staff is friendly, professional, helpful and appears to like working for the resort. The waitstaff remembered my husband's coffee order every morning, and knew us on a first-name basis. We were very warmly welcomed every time we entered the main house, which is where the restaurant, bar, concierge, and check-in is located. The food is delicious, fresh, and as well prepared and presented as in a five-star hotel, (which is Mahogany Bay, or if not, should be five-star!!). The private beach club is a quick 15 minute boat-ride away and takes you to a pristine, private beach. All flotation toys are free, drinks and food charged to the room. we stayed at the private beach several hours during our stay, and there is plenty of shade as well as seating. The staff here is as warm and welcoming as the staff at the main property. The tours and shops located on the property are carefully selected and curated by private contractors who offer seamless service and professional attention to each customer as though part of the Hilton organization. The jewelry shop is top notch and we spent plenty of money on wonderful jewelry for our family. I am planning to return in January, if not sooner, and will be staying at Mahogany Bay. Pros: • Dalton is the person who checked us in and out, and both times he was impeccable. Courteous, thorough, and professional. • The family bungalow was BEAUTIFUL. Spotlessly clean, lovely decor, quiet, comfortable, well-appointed, full kitchen with a huge water jug, and a great canal-side patio, A true paradise. • The sushi restaurant was excellent - great food and great service. • The seabeds (extra fee) were wonderful, if you are lucky enough to get one. • Free kayaks, paddle boards, and floaties at the beach club. Cons: • Breakfast service at the Great House was slow and disorganized, with some people's orders arriving 20 minutes after others, with the explanation that "the kitchen forgot our order." • It apparently doesn't matter if you took great care to reserve a space on the boat to the beach club, because they let people on who didn't have reservations and turned away people who did. They also randomly cancelled return boats, so if you were planning to return at a certain time and it was cancelled, you had to wait another hour for the next scheduled boat. • At the beach club, it was a mad dash to the reservation counter, as only the first few people would get a seabed for the day. The pictures of the seabeds were our reason for booking this property, so we were forced to run to the counter along with the other people desperate for a bed. This is not a relaxing thing to have to do on vacation, and there were some disappointed people who did not get a bed. There should be a less stressful way of ensuring a seabed (online reservations?), or better yet, more seabeds. Overall we are glad we stayed there because it is a dream locale and the people were very friendly. I think they could clean up the irritations with the beach club with a little organization.
