Altavia Hotel

This has to be one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in , the place was filthy, dead flies on the windowsills, dirty windowss, mouldy walls the pillows were very thin and the bedding didn’t match , the place smelt unclean as soon as we walked in , the breakfast was awful with anemic looking sausages, we asked for a glass of orange juice to be told that was for children not adults, the cereals were two large bowls one with cornflakes with a small plastic bowl to use to fill your bowl , the weetabix had no utensil so you had to use your hands to get them , my advise is avoid at all cost !

It would be easy to completely run this guest house down but I think that would be unfair. The bottom line is that it is very cheap so just don’t expect much. We booked at very short notice and this was the only one that could accommodate us. The first room we were given, in which we only stayed for one night was terrible, incredibly small and half the room was very low due to the roof, not very clean and had an electrical socket that was taped up! We were moved to a much better room which was still very tired but adequate. There’s not much choice with regards to breakfast but their full English was fine for me. My partner just wanted cereal but they appeared to have run out and it was not replenished during our stay. There is a bar, but it has no drink! You are told to help yourself and settle up in the morning but there is literally nothing there apart from some bottled ale. All the optics and draught taps are empty. On the plus side there is free parking, the position is great and the staff (which you’ll only see in the morning) were friendly. I have to say we only paid £480 for 6 nights in August which is very cheap and it didn’t affect our holiday as we were out most of the time. If you are looking for a very cheap guest house with absolutely no frills then maybe you would not be disappointed and bag yourself a cheap holiday. But be aware before you book there are definitely no frills!

Place run down ,staff never there,breakfast not to good, Wait 5mins of cold water , no clean towels and had to make your own bed

All essential needs were in place, shower, toilets, table fan, wifi, hair dryer, kettle, towels etc were present. I would say its value foer the money. If they refurbish and renovate the hotel, I guess it will cost much and attract more customers.!!! For me and my family, it was a nice 3 nights stay and with breakfast!!!!

Ignore the negatives. Yes it’s dated but it’s been about for a long time. Check in at the right time and don’t be late for breakfast and you’re golden. John is kind, generous and very accommodating. The hotel is budget friendly and in a great location-and I do mean great location! Love the breakfast and the service is brilliant. Always a good nights sleep. The kids love it here with the size of the garden, the trampoline and John is very nice to them. Sometimes he is under a lot of pressure and it’s understandable why he gets annoyed with people. Read the reviews-“I read the reviews so wasn’t expecting much”….don’t complain then! 😂

Stayed at this establishment for bank holiday weekend wasn’t expecting much after reading reviews and a good job I wasn’t.It’s supposed to be a budget friendly hotel,we’ll budget it was and friendly it wasn’t.The manager was obnoxious andhad no customer skills at all.The room was dirty the bathroom door had been kicked in at the bottom paint all over it and the shower cubicle was stained.Breakfast no cereal all the time we were there only full English.Thus place might be budget but it still wasn’t worth my hard earned money worse hotel I have ever been in.Please think hard before booking I never give reviews,but needed to on this occasion.

This hotel is very dated , beds were so worn I could feel mattress springs sticking into my back, headboards stained and dirty, car park too small and you get blocked in, leaking drains outside, lounge was ok the dining room a bit shabby but passable, breakfast was average, 2 Oriental girls serve breakfast and bend over backwards to help, then you look out the window and see the windows haven't been cleaned for ages, kettle in room but no tea coffee milk, we found out on our 3rd day of 4 you have to request the milk coffee tea while at breakfast, we survived but won't return..
