My Dad and I spent the New Years Eve at The Wight Hotel Sandown Isle of Wight and had a wonderful time!!!! John and Nikki and her family as well as Michael and the rest of the staff (unfortunatly Fran was ill - hope she's over that now) did a sterling performance. Five course dinners every night and for New Years Eve a six course dinner with lots of crackers and gift boxes on the table plus these balloons that when inflated and let loose flew around the tables and then a free glass of bubbly at midnight. There was entertainment every night. I espeicially like the disco on New Years Eve playing tracks from the 1960's right upto the 1990's, my eras covered with the '80's and '90's. As for our accamodation, well Dad and I stay at The Wight normally twice a year and this break we had room 159, on the ground level so no stairs. A big room with a four poster bed, a fireplace and two really comfy recliner chairs in front of a huge TV on the wall. Dad slept in this room. I had the second room which has two single beds and a cabinet for your clothes. I imagine this room would be great for family's in the summer season. Plus the room came with a big bathroom with a bath / shower. And breakfast every morning. An extensive breakfast menu. When I am on holiday I give up my weetabix and go for a good cooked and hot British Breakfast, but not even I could handle their signature Full Jurassic, opting for bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, toast and coffee. What's also great about The Wight is that they have ample parking, a must if you are staying in Sandown and always evening entertainment in the bar, although I wish they play more '80's music, but hey, that's a battle between Dad's '60's and my '80's!!!! Finally, we booked this New Years Break six months in advance as from the number of guests it seems always popular and Dad and I are both looking forward to our next holiday at The Wight in July (note, throughout the year The Wight only serve breakfast, so you need to go out for dinner, Christmas and New Year they put on a special treat for their guests). So, a massive thanks to John and Fran and their staff and a big shout out to Nikki and her family. May 2024 be a great season for you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
