Joe was an incredible host. There are no words to describe how amazing this place is! Where else could you get a beach wagon, chairs and an umbrella on your private porch? Joe has thought of every detail. Loved the shell washing station, outdoor shower and hammock. Location is a 10! Lighthouse was a short walk and the beaches are beautiful. Wish we had more time to enjoy the fire pit area and the island.

The Tarpon Tale Inn is a unique and charming place to stay while on Sanibel Island. It has been beautifully and lovingly restored after Hurricane Ian, and is so cute, comfortable and clean! Every meticulous detail has been attended to by the owner, Joe, who is so friendly and exceptionally accommodating! The grounds and outdoor ambiance of the inn’s setting are welcoming and lovely. Nestled among palm trees and gorgeous tropical plantings, one can spend a pleasant afternoon outside simply relaxing on the double swing, the hammock, or on your own private patio! Bicycles for exploring the island via its incredible bike trails, along with all the beach equipment you could possibly need are included in your stay. The short walk to Sanibel’s gorgeous beaches makes The Tarpon Tale Inn’s location just perfect for your island paradise getaway. This darling property on amazing Sanibel Island is not to be missed!

My husband and I were coming to Sanibel for our 30th anniversary and the place we had booked canceled us 2 weeks before our arrival. We found Tarpon Tale and now it’s our new favorite! Island Sunset was perfect for us… quiet, cozy, very clean and included everything we’d need for our stay… full kitchen with new appliances, a roomy and newly tiled shower, loveseat for late TV watching (a must for the hubby!) and a patio for drinking our morning coffee. A beach wagon and chairs were on the patio for the short walk to the beach and other items were available to borrow… straw hats, shovels, scoops and coolers. There is a nice common area with furniture, hammocks, fire pit, grill and there are bikes are right outside your door to use to ride the paths or to the close shops and restaurants. We felt like we were in a cute beach cottage and the owner, Joe, was available and on the property if we needed anything. We enjoyed our special celebration and we will definitely be staying again!

We stayed in the Mangrove Suite. It was so quiet, comfortable bed, full kitchen to use along with the outdoor grill, great patio and outdoor seating area. We rode bikes daily to restaurants, checked out everything along gulf drive went to the old cemetery. We used the wagon, umbrella, beach chairs and cooler to take to the beach, there are three beaches within minutes away. Joe is a fantastic owner he's always there to help with anything you may need. We will be back!

So nice to be back visiting Sanibel! Our first time staying here. Beautiful, clean and a short walk to the beach!

It’s very hard to understand why it’s that expensive. Everything is good but way out of a normal price for an inn

We were so fortunate to have found this beautiful Inn with such a lovely owner, Joe. From the moment we arrived I felt like we had found the perfect place! Beautiful grounds with lush, tropical plants...nice seating arrangements, a fire pit, hammock and the best bikes (we biked everywhere and they were super comfy which is a necessity when you're biking miles everyday) which are included in the stay. We stayed three nights; one night in Sea Shell II and two nights in the Mangrove. Both extremely clean, roomy and tastefully decorated. They were adorable - we felt right at home. Each one had a deck right out front. Beds were super comfy! Beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella and beach wagon all provided. Shell washing station as well. Location - we absolutely loved this location!! It's on the east end of the island closer to the lighthouse. A 5 minute walk down to the beach, a short bike ride to the lighthouse and all restaurants/shops are an enjoyable bike ride away. Joe was honestly the best Inn owner we've ever met - he wasn't there just to maintain his Inn - he genuinely wants to get to know his guests and we saw that firsthand as well as with his other guests. Joe is what makes this Inn what it is - the doormat at the Mangrove said "Come as guests, leave as friends". And that is the epitome of this beautiful Inn. We had a wonderful stay at Tarpon Tale Inn! Close to shops and the beach. We rented Captains Quarter which had full kitchen, living area and patio. The inn also provides bikes! The owner was very attentive and accommodating. We will definitely be back!
