Shalimar Cottages and Motel

Nice Resort, excellent location. Very comfortable and clean. Great Customer Service. The Resort is very close to the beach, very relaxing, You can relax outside, doing water sports or just seating in the porch of your cottage, you can also go walking and look for shells. Excellent atmosphere. Sanibel is an awesome town to relax and just enjoy life.

Shalimar boasts a great location on Sanibel, right on the water. We stayed on the second floor of the small motel. The motel is oriented so that all rooms have a view of the Gulf of Mexico. Our room had an adjoining door with the room next door. Some noise came through from the neighboring room, around the door. Other than that, the room was very quiet. The room was clean. Everything worked, save the toaster and one burned out light bulb. The coffee maker didn't heat the water enough to make a good pot of coffee. The room could benefit from more light, electric and USB outlets. Our room had two double beds. The bed was a little soft for my taste. A kitchenette is included in the room, with utensils, a stove and full-size refrigerator. The room had a private, screened in balcony, though the screen was loose in places. There are private cottages onsite, also. This is a wonderful place to stay with an old Florida feel.

VERY CLEAN ROOMS ! GROUNDS & POOL CLEAN & RIGHT ON BEACH ! We stayed in the motel part room 18 top floor . All the top floor rooms have ocean view . Don't know if bottom does. I recommend top floor but there are alot of steps to climb from outside no elevator. walls are a little thin, you can hear neighbors talking if they are on their deck not partying just talking, who cares its gorgeous place. Our room was extremely clean . Had a screened in balcony with 2 chairs table and 1 lounger all the top & bottom floors have that. A little dated inside but very well equipped and a kitchenette. Bed very comfy and most of all Clean, did I say Clean again, lol it's because my most important thing I look for in a room is it must be clean, but this was very clean. Had lots of parking too. Front counter gentleman with the black hair very personable and nice. And whatever people are saying about the Russian guy is b.s to us we had to talk to him 3 times and he was very nice and helpful. We had a good stay we live on the Atlantic side of FL we will definitely be back !

A beautiful place and well maintained. The Staff is exceptional. We were on Cottage #5. My wife and I enjoyed peering out to the ocean in the terrace sipping on a glass of wine. Unbeknownst to us the NOSEEUMS were also have their after noon sips of blood. We were ravaged after 2 nights. My wife had about 30 bites. I have around 20 bites. A very painful experience after much saving and planning - to have the vacation ruined. I suggest heavy mosquito control to be employed around the grounds.

Stayed here in 2015, 2016 and now in 2021. Whether it was covid or something else, the whole Island wasn't real busy in early October. The Shalimar beach was great with few people on it. The motel and cottages are only steps to the beach and other beachgoers are respectful of your chairs and towels. The cottages and motel have seemed to withstand the test of time over the years we've been going. They are well-maintained and make an attractive presentation. No.....I will not tell you the best room because then it gets busier. You have to find out for yourself. But as far as we are concerned there IS a best room!!!!!

We stayed for a week the first part of December. The weather was beautiful! The beach was awesome! I walked it looking for shells several times a day and made a great haul even though they have not had a storm in quite some time. Scored 3 alphabet cones this trip right in front of the hotel. The staff is always friendly and ready to help in any way. I love that you can go exchange your towels daily and there is no maid service. I also love the onsite laundry! Beach chairs are free and the sunsets are BEAUTIFUL! We had a gopher Tortoise right outside our screened in porch that we watched all week. I saw dolphins cruising the beach 3 different times. Just a wonderful place to relax!

The location of Shalimar is its' greatest positive. We stayed in cottage #8, so I can only speak for that accommodation. The cottage needs some attention and updating. Much of the trim on the exterior of the cottage is warped and worn down. Plenty of rusted areas (yes, I know the property is on the water) .One of the reviews I read called Shalimar full of potential. I couldn't agree more. That being said, the property has a lot of work to do to REACH that potential
