When we arrived, there was a large group of people smoking **** outside in the gazebo in front of the lobby. One of the people volunteered to take our bags to our room for us. This already gave us an unsettled feeling, and then were informed by the person working the front desk that person does not work at the hotel. After we received our key, we realized every outside door was propped open, despite the 27/7 secured door signs. There were also several other people milling around outside, so my husband asked the front desk what was going on at the hotel. It turns out that a good percentage of the hotel is filled with welfare recipients that live there, and that in the last 30 days of our stay there was a stabbing and shooting. As a sign of reassurance from the front desk we were told the police response time to the hotel is 4 minutes, and the police are there often. The police were even there that evening questioning people. While everyone needs assistance, I did not wish to spend the high cost to stay at this hotel to experience this, especially with my 1 year old baby. DO NOT STAY here! Go across the street to the Holiday Inn. It costs more, but they do not have the same issue.
