I was at Casa Madrona as part of a group. I did not pay for my room, so cannot report on the value of the room. However, I can report that my room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable and, while I only had a partial marina view, it was still nice. As my visit was brief and the meetings were long I didn’t get a strong sense of how well located the hotel is, I did get out for a one-hour walk, and found Sausalito to be charming. My five-star review is because of the service of the catering staff. It appears that the food all comes from the restaurant downstairs - Poggio. I let the server know on the first evening that I was on a gluten- and dairy-free diet and they brought me a special mixta salad and made sure that one of the main dishes met all of my requirements. The next morning, I was advised that the granola was gluten-free and brought some oat milk. At lunch, as the server was bringing out the food for everybody, he approached me and asked if he could bring me a gluten-free vegan pasta dish. It was quite delicious. In my experience, most caterers begrudgingly will take care of alternate diet needs. I felt like the staff at Casa Madrona went above and beyond.
