Embassy Suites by Hilton Monterey Bay Seaside

Seaside|3.74km from city centre
Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife while on vacation. Frequent fliers of Embassy Suites, and this location is exactly on par with what you'd expect from the brand. The location of this hotel is fine, with close proximity to a variety of restaurants, a gas station, easy to get to the wharf area in Monterey. We stayed in a standard king room, and it is the typical 2-room suite layout in most Embassy locations. The room as clean, and the bed was comfortable. The shower worked great the first night, but the second night it did not get very hot. It was late, so we did not bother trying the front desk about it. Both TV's in the room were equipped with a Chromecast that had a web portal you could sync a device to. Very nifty being able to cast from our phones, something every hotel should adopt! The breakfast was top notch for a complimentary buffet. Eggs/omelets cooked to order, a variety of other hot and cold breakfast items, juice/coffee/soda, baked goods etc. The happy hour at night (included in the room rate!) was great, and had 2 specialty drinks, beer, wine, and well liquor available. The drinks are very standard, but they are absolutely free! There are also light snacks available. We did not use the pool or gym, though both looked clean. The pool is indoors but did not appear to be heated. One thing to note: parking fee is $20, and there is also a resort fee of $15/night that is charged. The resort fee ”includes” wifi, bike rental, and a $15/credit for the gift shop or restaurant. We figured either way you're paying $15 per day extra, so we used $15 at the gift shop both days for snacks & coffee. There is a Starbucks inside the gift shop which this applies to!

I stayed in this hotel while working temp in San Diego for about a month in May/April. I would say this is a hidden gem and a very cute boutique hotel! I loved that there are only 13 rooms and it has the cutest patio that stays lit at night for comfort and safety (very aesthetic as well!). ALL of the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. I think this would be the perfect stay for a solo traveler like myself, a couple or some friends. It could be a good fit for families as well, but it may be a bit louder then a family would want (traffic noise, multiple guests in one room and upstairs movement is fairly loud). I would not change much about this cute hotel. It is an older building, so you will hear movement from upstairs, if you are on the first floor. If you are a light sleeper, I would advise to stay on the second floor to take care of that. My room, and most, if not all, have a cute little kitchen that is stocked, so you can make any type of food! The unit was very clean and newly furnished! My bathroom was brand new and it was so cute and clean! Great tub for baths and relaxing. The location is amazing because it is right across the street from the ocean and a park. There are several, very nice bars and restaurants right on the same street too. The hotel has its own parking lot, as well as parking on the side streets. I would say this is a great selection for a short or long term stay for anyone looking to see Imperial Beach or surrounding areas! It is also pet friendly, with lots of areas to walk your doggies for potty. Special thanks to Dotti, the manager, for constant, exceptional customer service. And thanks to her amazing staff Kevin, Alba, Lily, Zahraa, Kino and Steven for all the hospitality and thoughtfulness during my long term stay! It really helped to have a solid, friendly staff during the stressful move I was making.

Monterey Tides

Monterey Tides

Monterey|0.39km from Garden Center at The Home Depot
Where to start! We arrived and we were told we couldn’t check in as the hotel had been fully booked the previous night and the rooms still were not ready. So we waited, then at the time we were told to return, the power to the hotel went down. So the lobby was rather full of people waiting to get to their rooms. Drinks vouchers were issued for the bar. When we eventually got to the reception to check in, hours later! We were told the car parking fee would be waived for our stay of two nights. There were four of us in one car and we had booked two rooms. So we were happy with that. The rooms are small, looking tired and not particularly special in any way, motel rather than hotel. After two nights, we checked out, both rooms had been charged for the car parking, despite only having one car, we were told it would be credited, still waiting! We also forgot to pack a jacket that was in the wardrobe. We were advised by the hotel they use a company to reunite owners with items they have left. This service is costing us $189 to have this jacket sent back to Europe, a complete rip off and does nothing to enhance the customer service at the Tides. When we checked out, we were amazed at the total, apart from not crediting the two lots of car parking, the room per night including taxes was so overpriced for what you actually got. The location is wonderful, no doubt about that, but the hotel, there are better locally that are not worn out, tired and to be honest need a fair amount spent on it to warrant the ridiculous amount they charged. This was the worst experience we had on our month long road trip.

Free parking, free wifi, big room, no breakfast, booked twin room, good sanitation, well-equipped, you must use the room key to open the door when you enter and exit the stairs, the security is very good! The only downside is that the air conditioner is too loud at night and I didn't sleep well all night!

Typical motel, there are some, but the sound insulation is not good at all. The quarrel was over until 3 o'clock in the morning at 1 o'clock next door. Everything was clear. I didn't sleep well one night.
