The Hotel Sorrento is a classic landmark hotel. It enjoyed a heyday in the 1980s and 1990s. Today it is a somewhat dated but still warm and inviting. The room was a bit spartan by modern standards, but very clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was small, with little counter space, but nicely appointed with big fluffy towels and luxury personal care amenities.
All of the staff was friendly and helpful in a youthful semi-professional way.
The only disappointment was that the cozy warmth of the hotel was distracted by the restaurant, Stella, which was, we suppose, trying to emulate an Italian courtyard, but was mostly cold and noisy. The food was good, however.
The overnight valet parking charge of $60 seemed a bit steep, but the garage is off the street and secure.
Overall, we liked the Sorrento and would return.
