Shangri-La Zemulong Inn (Dukezong Ancient City) Reviews

We stayed 2 nights here and felt really belonging to this guesthouse! The owner was really helpful and kind to share the tips and suggestions to us. They even make sure we feel comfortable due to weather and our first time experience cold weather 🤣. Thank you so much guys! I dont want to review about the room because it all complete for me. As long as you have all the basic things in the room it was okay for me.

The Wood Dragon Inn is conveniently located just a 5-10 minute walk from the vibrant Shangri-La Old Town, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. The inn features a cozy, Tibetan-inspired atmosphere, with traditional decor and a warm, welcoming vibe that reflects the local culture. The staff is known for being friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with recommendations or any needs you might have during your stay. However, it’s worth noting that the inn does not offer breakfast, so guests may want to explore nearby cafes or restaurants for a morning meal. Despite this, the inn’s charm and proximity to the old town make it a great choice for those looking to experience the heart of Shangri-La.

It was very nice being picked up by Michael from the train station, This service is being offered when you book more than 2 nights. I decided to cancel the second night after I noticed how unclean the room was. This room (king size) needs a deep cleaning. All the pipes were covered with dust, hair was found in the drain on the floor, the carpet had stains, the kettle had molded leaves in it, the sheets had holes. Upon arrival I used the restroom in a just vacated, not cleaned guest room, since the office has no restroom. Front desk Lin and Michael are helpful and friendly, but not always available since they have multiple tasks. This inn is more like a bit of a run down hostel. Pics look great, but reality is that the inn needs more attention. Location was okay, about a five minute walk from the Main Street in Old Town. It’s a place to crash for one night. I think though, if you pay a little more, you could get a better, cleaner place.

Very nice hostel near the old town. We rented trekking equipment. Clean, the toilet is a squatting toilet. Nice owners

This place is incredible! The energy from the people and Hulu (their dog) is love. Same with the energy of the place! All builded with wood and traditional ******* rooms. I’ve spent a really good time. I’ll come back! 💚

The hotel is well located, about 10 min walk from the ancient city. From the train station it’s possible to take a bus and walk for 10 minutes. It’s very quiet and peaceful, you can rest in the porch swing. The staff is really kind and friendly (speaks English), she even tried to help us find a restaurant. The room was exquisite, all in wood and really clean, with super cute night lamps and all the amenities needed. There’s a bathroom with shower and Turkish toilets. My favourite room of a 3 weeks trip, pity we stayed only one night !

The hotel location was excellent, accessible via didi and very short walk to the dukezhong ancient city (plus point for muslim travellers: very near to nice halal restaurants). The hosts and owner were very friendly and can speak very excellent english, so it’s easier to communicate for foreigners. They also provide recommendations for places to visit in Shangri-La and they can even help you to book the trips. The room that we booked was the ******* style and the room looked exactly the same as the pictures. Recommended to stay here for anyone visiting Shangri-La!

This place looks pretty dope, and location is accessible, near the east fate of dukezong. Overall good place to stay, got a free room upgrade as well thank you.

Our stay here was amazing! Nothing short of phenomenal. Michael (老板）greeted us upon arrival despite our train being late. He gave us many recommendations to make our time in Shangri-La really special. We went together to Napahai Valley, and later on we went to the ******* dining and entertainment experience which was fun and interesting. Our room was very clean, the bed was so comfortable and the water was very hot. The location is also perfect, the hotel is only a 10 minute walk away from the centre of the ancient stone town. The kindness we experienced was the best in China so far, if you are a foreigner we recommend you stay here!
