Shiretoko Village

This is a traditional and relaxing inn, and the hot springs are great too. Next time, I'd like to use Shiretoko Village as a base for my family. The cruise ship was canceled today, so I couldn't get on, but next time, I'll try again, and I'd like to stay here again. The food was also good.

I chose this hotel because the hot spring looked good. There are many people participating in Shiretoko activities, so there is a lot of noise in the evenings and mornings, but it quiets down early at night and is very quiet. The facilities were sufficient. It was clear that the old facilities had been properly renovated and designed. There were no restaurants nearby, so on the second night of our stay we asked for dinner at the last minute, but the seasoning was exquisite and very delicious. The hot spring had a salty spring quality and was excellent. I wonder if it was because of the hot spring that I didn't get any muscle pain even though I walked around Shiretoko. I really liked it. I would like to experience Shiretoko in the summer, so I will visit soon. I hope they will join the travel destination tax payment program.

It's about ten minutes away from downtown Shiretoko, and it's uphill to get to the hotel, which can be tiring carrying or pulling suitcases. There are no restaurants near the hotel, the only option is to order meals from the hotel restaurant. Although the location is not good, the service is pretty good and it’s very comfortable to sleep in

The lights are too dim and the bathroom doesn't feel very hygienic.

Room facilities are good

The tatami room was spacious, clean and nice. I was very satisfied with the hot spring, but it was disappointing that there was no cold water. Even though it was a late check-in, we were greeted well.

I heard that Shiretoko's three-point set is very famous

I stayed in a dormitory. If you're just staying overnight, there's no problem. It's like a capsule hotel, so you have privacy. There may be people who snore loudly, so earplugs are a must. I think it was because the plan included a hot spring, but I was also able to use the hot spring in the main building. It was mid-winter, so it was cold when I moved from the separate building to the main building to use the hot spring. (Because you have to go outside at one point) Be prepared. There are no lockers at the hot spring, so be careful with your valuables.

We stayed at Shiretoko Village Tsukuda-so, a World Heritage Site lodging in Utoro, Shiretoko, in July 2021. 2021 was a year in Shiretoko where it was very difficult to make reservations. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many private lodgings were closed, and only relatively large inns and hotels were open. Even some major hotels decided to close in June, so we had to suddenly find a place to stay one month before our trip. In this situation, Shiretoko Village Tsukuda-so is a lodging that offers a relatively reasonable accommodation fee, the food is delicious (especially the stewed menme), and it also comes with a hot spring. With a hairy crab for dinner per person, the price for one night and two meals is 37,400 yen per two people, which is relatively reasonable for Shiretoko. The water of the hot spring "Kuma no Yu" is a reddish cloudy water, also known as the beauty water, and it has a slightly viscous and pleasant texture. If there is one drawback, it is that the rooms do not have air conditioning, and in 2021, the daytime temperature in Utoro often exceeds 30 degrees, making it a little difficult to sleep at night. Also, the surrounding area is rich in nature, and at night, various insects come out of nowhere and burst into the room, causing a commotion. There is insecticide and duct tape for catching insects in the room, but it may be difficult for women to deal with.
