"The room was very comfortable, with a hot spring area, and quite spacious.
It's right next to the bus stop, no need to climb up.
Unfortunately, the ice had melted when I arrived, otherwise the snow scenery would have been truly beautiful!
Luggage can be stored in advance. Perhaps it's in a soft opening phase after the name change, as there didn't seem to be many guests; I didn't see anyone in the smoking area all day.
Dinner and breakfast were both buffets, very plentiful, but the crab legs were a bit dry…"
"For us it is the second time in this wonderful hotel and every time it is like living a dream: it feels like being in a bubble thanks to all the well-being in which you are immersed. You are pampered by every service present and by the kindness of the staff, which makes you feel at home. The food is simply divine and you would just like to have a more spacious stomach so you could taste more and more. Nature is unsurpassed, every day you find yourself meeting spectacular creatures even just going out a short distance away. You will not find a similar place in all of Japan, where man meets nature in a perfect combination of balance, harmony and deep respect. We hope to be able to return a third time and relive this beautiful dream again. Thank you for everything Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel!"
"The Chief's House was a candidate I didn't book that day, but I accidentally experienced the life of the locals again. I went to Furano for 17 years and experienced it once. I had to make my own bed. This time I didn't need it, but my mother didn't like it, because the room didn't have a toilet, I had to go outside and no air conditioning. The water in the sink is rusty. I don’t pay much attention to the homestay. Because it is cheap, the quilt is thick and there is no air conditioning and it is not cold. The quadruple room I booked is really not enough to cover a layer. The biggest problem is water. I found an elderly home at the front desk and took me to another sink. It still doesn’t work. I am too lazy to do it, I bought 3 large bottles of water directly in the vending machine, which is enough. Its food is very local and delicious. Although hardware charity is not good, the boss and the proprietress are really good people. It is not convenient for me to go to kiki the next day. The proprietress sees me difficult and drives me up. It is really a good person and solves my urgent need."
"We specifically chose to experience both Kiki and Hokushinui in Eastern Hokkaido, and honestly, we loved both. As first-timers, it was great to have a shuttle bus waiting for us right when we got off the coach. The driver even held a sign to confirm our booking, and the staff would greet us and open doors every time we entered or left. They even said 'thank you' in Chinese when they knew we were from China, which instantly made us feel more at home. The overall design seems to be centered around natural, untouched beauty, and the 'blue hour' moments were truly stunning. There's also a dedicated area to relax and enjoy tea. The room was much larger than typical Tokyo hotel rooms and impeccably clean. Even as I write this review, looking through my photos brings back such happy memories from Eastern Hokkaido. I think that's the true meaning of great hotel service: letting these small, beautiful details become cherished and unforgettable moments in your travels and in life, warming you and taking you back to that moment whenever you think of them."
"The hotel is built on a mountain, and trying to walk around was quite tiring.
The room was spacious, but housekeeping doesn't come daily. Currently, all of Japan is embracing eco-friendliness, so most hotels only clean every two nights, and some even every three nights.
Those who sign up for tours or activities will be picked up directly at the hotel. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to the Utoro Bus Center. If you miss the shuttle, I believe the hotel can also arrange a drop-off.
The buffet was extensive, but eating the same things every day got a bit boring. Personally, I still prefer set meals.
I tasted something sour in the chawanmushi. At first, I thought my taste buds were off, but after smelling it, I confirmed it was indeed sour and informed the staff.
The public bath has several pools. The open-air hot spring bath is a bit small, but it wasn't crowded."
"Our room was new and nice. Has a bit vintage vibe in the interior design. Breakfast has everything you need and is tasty. The customer service and onsen are great. Everything went very smoothly.
I wish they had a currency exchange automat (like Smart exchange) as no cash currency exchange options in any city nearby (banks do not do it at all). Hotel is of a good level to provide this service. Why this is needed - we thought payment will be processed online through Trip.com but they requested to pay in cash AFTER checkout. Normally this is at least mentioned when checking in. Also they changed the onsen fee recently and when we booked it was of lower price. We literally had to give out all cash we had.
Overall we liked our stay, but the payment issue left some bad impression about the hotel."
"The apartment was well located with wonderful views of the ocean & harbour, especially during sunset. Rooms were clean with many amenities in common areas such as complimentary tea/coffee and some sodas.
However, do take not that rooms don’t come with on suite bathrooms (only toilet). Showering facilities are all shared (genders are separated), so worth considering for those who mind.
Otherwise, it is a really wonderful accommodation, would recommend!"
"Conveniently located: bus station, tren station, convenience store, walking distance to the bridge (watch eagles) and to the beach.
I wish they had some meals to purchase in the New Year holiday. No food at all."
"Hotels in Shiretoko are quite expensive, especially in the peak season in winter, so I chose this one on the mountain. It takes 20 minutes to walk to the 711 supermarket at the foot of the mountain, and it also takes 20 minutes to walk to the nearest restaurant. There is nothing nearby. Fortunately, the hotel has free shuttle to the BUS station (you need to call), and I drove a domestic 1 million alpha to pick me up, and the ride experience was not bad. The next day I went to Shiretoko for hiking, and they could also pick me up directly at the hotel, which was pretty good.
I booked a Japanese tatami room, which happened to be on the second floor of the new building, facing the yard. The room was very comfortable and spacious. There are public washing machines, tea machines, and ice machines--I love them. The hot spring is also good, not crowded, and larger than the hotel in Abashiri.
The breakfast is a set meal, which is okay, and you need to book a time in advance. I don’t know if it’s because of the peak season of the Spring Festival, but the two front desks are Chinese and easy to communicate."
