This is quite a difficult review as lots of things were good about Busta House, including the staff and the food, but when your allocated rooms make it difficult to get a good night's sleep it is hard to be full of praise. The hotel itself has had a lot of investment and several areas looked recently painted and carpeted. In a nutshell, if you stay there then seriously consider avoiding rooms Noss, Lunna, and Lamba due to the minimal soundproofing, proximity to the kitchens, and, in the case of the former two rooms the loud creaking ceilings. The radiators also make loud noises if on. That aside, the staff dealt well with our issues when we spoke to them and I can't fault them for that. The restaurant staff and food, and the lounge were also very nice. If we'd had better rooms then all would have been fine.

I have been going up to the Busta for the past 3 years in March and September. And I have found the staff the friendly and helpful. Even after turn up late after my flight was delayed. Also if you email them in advance and tell them you are veratrin they will put on a veggie menu for you. What is much appreciated

Booked Busta for our wedding weekend, absolutely perfect. From my arrival with my friend on the Friday, to the wedding day on the Saturday and our checkout on the Monday, everything was faultless. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt comfortable and at ease. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Very professional and yet personal at the same time. Polite and helpful on all matters. Thank you so much.

Busta is a treasure on Shetland. One can easily tour all parts of the nearby Isles with ease and return to the comforts of the house. The staff are lovely and obviously management are diligently keeping a happy, professional work place. Having stayed in a few places in Shetland as is the way of these things I only discovers Busta on my last night. My plans woukd have changed if I had encountered its relaxed beauty with charming staff earlier in my sojourn of Shetland.

We spent 5 nights at Busta House, chosen because of the many positive TA reviews. On touring the island it became clear that this was a sound decision, Shetland lacking attractive accommodation options. We had a spacious rectangular room curiously with a double bed at each end. It had old fashioned/period furniture, a comfortable bed and best of all a great view of the garden, little harbour, sea and hills. The bathroom was functional and modern. We enjoyed the good breakfast, smoked haddock and kippers were especially tasty. Dinner was fine with some dishes changing daily. Service was consistently friendly, obliging and efficient. The wifi worked and there’s ample car parking.

Very nice hotel set in a previous Manor House, lot of history in that building! The rooms are excellent, very clean and spacious, beds are comfortable. There is a working TV, plenty of storage space in the room, bottled water and toiletries every day. Would definitely recommend for a family holiday, dogs allowed too

Very welcoming - member of staff carried our suitcase down steps & to our room. Lovely helpful/happy staff & great food choice. Hotel a little ‘tired’ but very comfortable. Great location to explore The Shetlands. Would recommend this hotel

We have stayed in Busta House several times over the last six years; each stay has been excellent, but last night was the best yet. We stayed in the recently revovated room `Vaila`which in my opinion can only be described as spectacular. The welcome, service, meals and drinks were, as ever, second to none and excellent value for money. Once again, a big `Thank You`to Grant and his terrific team. See you again soon - Ian and Linda x x x

A warm welcome, and shown to our room. This is fairly essential due to the layout of the hotel from it's original days as a lairds residence. No problem to find after that! The room (Foula) was one on the upgraded ones and as such was excellent, with both a large walk-in shower, and the deepest bath I have ever seen! Toiletries were provided. The room was very comfortable and cosy. The restaurant food was excellent as usual - we had chicken liver pate and poached pear for starters and tagliatelle and salmon for our mains. A house white (sauvignon blanc) washed everything down nicely. Unfortunately we were so stuffed we couldn't manage a sweet - from experience their home-made cheesecakes are to die for! Always a great stay at Busta!
