Orange Homestay, Shillong

My parents and their friends stayed at this place during their trip to Shillong recently. In their words, "their service was amazing, and the staff were very affectionate. Orange Homestay is an excellent accommodation and is above Frank motors (Tata motors dealer). The rooms are spacious and very clean. The terrace is awesome as they have ***y flowering plants which are blooming. The food is also good but at times the wait time is more. The staff are very helpful and service oriented. They don't expect Tips. Very polite and well ***nered. Breakfast options are limited but serving is generous and unlimited. There is only 1 chef and he arrives around 7 am. So the earliest you can expect the Breakfast is at 7:30 am. It would be either of Poori or Bhature or Aloo Paratha ***** with bread toast and bread sandwich. Whatever they cook is tasty. Coming to the drawbacks. 1) No lift. If you get room at 3rd floor then it will be difficult for elderly 2) The accommodation is on Laitmor/Mawblei main road which is always busy and very noisy. Sleeping in the night will be slightly difficult due to the vehicles making noise. 3) Very far away from Police bazaar. You need at least 1 hour by car to reach police bazaar though the distance is only 6 kms. Shillong traffic is pathetic. Taxi guys fleece you. It costed us 400 to come from Police Bazar to Orange homestay. There is no car parking as well at Police bazaar. So if you are keen to spend time on shopping then Orange homestay may not be the right place. We stayed in room 111 at 3rd floor and the room is massive in size. Very thoughtfully stocked with hot packs, geyser, Air conditioning which can also double up as heater, extra blankets etc.

Complimentary breakfast arrangement is worst and Rooms which are shown in the picture are not the rooms provided to you. Rooms which are given to us are very small as compare to the pictures shown. Location is 45 minutes away from the main police bajaar.

Worst place to stay in Shillong. Shillong itself is pathetic but this Homestay is the worst of a kind. No staff, after ordering food they dont serve for 2.5 hrs. they dont pick trash. No working geyser. Even in premium room, no prompt service. Zero view, very money-minded people who charges for heater in 10 degrees climate. Never plan any orange properties.
