We spent two nights on a great package for 55+ patrons. We paid a small upgrade fee to get a sea view room which we considered was excellent value. Overall the room, although dated, was very clean, beds comfortable and generally well appointed for a three star hotel. The quantity and speed of the hot water to the bathroom was probably the best we have experienced over the past twenty years of travel. The views exceptional! Unfortunately the dining experience was not of the same standard. On the first night we were informed that the only dining options was a buffet. Not great fans of buffets at the best of times, we agreed after being assured that there was a'fresh' buffet for our agreed buffet time of 9.30pm. Apparently they had group of 80 for the 7.30 time option. We took the 9.30 option in these Covid times to avoid large groups of people. We are just getting back to dining and travel after a two year absence. Well to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The food offered was appalling. The pork and tuna were just luke warm and over cooked from being kept constantly warm. The fries cold and soggy. Salads look liked the seaguls had attacked. Nothing look appetising at all. Hundreds of fruit flies buzzing around the dessert table. We raised our concerns with the manager who tried his best to explain. A very hard task when you looked at the food on display. We asked about the 'fresh' buffet only to be informed that fresh food is only brought out when the existing plate emptied. A different stiry to the one told in reception when booking. We would have gone somewhere else if we were in a city like Lisbon, but already after 10pm there are no other dining options close by. So the choice was now buffet or no dinner. We weren't even offered room service of a freshly cooked a-la-carte meal. After a long discussion, mainly with my partner who rarely eats meat and only white fish, we were promised a freshly cooked meal of pork and tuna. The chips were great, hot and crispy but the meat and fish just reheated, still only warm and very dry. A complete disappointment Breakfast was a little better the following morning but very limited hot options. Dinner the second night was at a local restaurant only ten minutes walk. Fantastic compared to our first night experience. Fresh, tastier and cheaper too.

I paid €175 per night for a room with breakfast included. Breakfast is not special, but in view of the environment it was a good time. A little unusual to ask a guest to wash the dish he spent for breakfast when he paid €175 per night but at the end it was a comic episode that only added to a well-fledged experience. The least good part was to have booked a bedroom with a pair bed with a wooden bar in the middle, and either you sleep on one side of the bed or on the other. When you collect these values, you have to be careful with some details people! In the rest, very sympathetic and good experience in general.

We have been many times already. Nice to have a small family run hotel, friendly welcome, good service, high standard rooms and studios, very clean, good breakfast. Every visit improvements are obvious. We are still discovering things to do in the locality. Be sure to visit Sol e Vida restaurant. Our 2023 visit already booked!

We were given the attic room with sloping ceilings and so kept banging our heads. When we mentioned this at reception and asked if we could change rooms they replied we couldn't change and yes our room was not great for tall people (my husband is 6' and I'm 5'6”). The hanging rail was good, like the room, if you were under 4' tall and there were no other hooks to hang a coat or dress! After the 2nd night the stench coming from the bathroom was just too much to bear and we asked if something could be done (it was making us both feel nauseous). They said they would fix it but didn't and we were so happy to leave after the 4th night as the stench was now keeping us awake!!!! The room was inadequate, the stench unacceptable but the balcony was nice and the bed was comfortable. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast was good as were the downstairs communal facilities. I wouldn't have have written this review had, when I wrote to the hotel about my dissatisfaction, they replied with something more than an apology stating ”Regarding the smells felt in the plumbing you mentioned, unfortunately it is a problem felt throughout the village of Ericeira and when the weather is bad, it is a collateral damage that we suffer” I stayed in Ericeira in June and my daughter lives there and this is the first I've heard of it also, the weather was mainly warm and dry!

The breakfast was well cared for with plenty of choice of freshly prepared dishes. However, the dining area can feel a bit cramped at full occupancy of the hotel, especially in the off-season when it's less pleasant to sit outside. Nevertheless, the start of the day was always pleasant with a delicious breakfast in a charming setting. We recommend renting a car, as the nearest beaches are not easily reached on foot. Both Ericeira and the nearby Santa Cruz are nice villages to visit. For a day trip, it is worth driving to Praia Carvalhal in Comporta (about 2 hours drive) and enjoying the beautiful nature and a delightful lunch at the Sublime Comporta Beach Club. Another thrilling day trip is to Nazaré, known for its massive waves where die-hard surfers set world records. With waves that can reach up to 25 meters high, it's a breathtaking spectacle that attracts surfers and spectators from all over the world. What we particularly appreciated was the flexibility and understanding the staff showed when our daughter fell ill a day before our departure. Without hesitation, we were allowed to stay a bit longer in our room on the day of checkout, which made a world of difference in our situation. A downside was the lack of price lists for items in the minibar and spa treatments. It would have been helpful to have a clear overview of the costs for these extras. An extra word of appreciation is in place for Veronica, Andre, and Bruno, each of whom contributed to our great experience with a smile and a personal touch. And of course, our thanks to everyone we may have forgotten to mention, you all made our stay special. What is the most different is to have the sea at about 50 meters...e the sensation is to be on the sea, which is heard in an intensity that does not bother but relaxes ...
