When we travel as a family we don't usually go to hostels with shared bathrooms, but given that we were going to be in Singapore for quite a few nights and that the prices of the hotels we found were very high, we decided to book a room just for us in this hostel via Agoda. Things started off pretty bad, since two days before they send us a message saying that there has been a problem with our reservation, and instead of a family room we have to share a room. After several messages, we managed to agree that we only had to share a room for two nights, and in exchange, they offered us a transfer to the airport. We arrived quite angry about the situation, but in the end everything turned out well and our stay has had many more positive aspects, so being a very simple accommodation, I consider it a good option for tight budgets in the very expensive Singapore. Positive aspects: the staff is very attentive, the rooms are capsule-type, but clean and with comfortable beds, good air conditioning, very well located near Little India and not far from the Arab quarter, two metro stops nearby a few minutes walk (Farrer Park on the purple line and Jalan Besar on the blue), bus stops almost in front to go to the Harbourfront area (to go to Sentosa), or Chinatown. Even walking, in about 30 minutes you can go to the bay area. It includes a very simple breakfast consisting of toast with butter and jam, cocoa cream or peanut butter, cereal, milk and sachet coffee or tea. Afterwards, everyone must clean their cups and plates. There are three shower areas per floor, and as many toilets, and we had no problems finding a clean toilet and/or shower anytime we needed it. Even on the days we had to share a room, people were quiet and respectful, so the quality of sleep was good. The rooms do not have windows and are silent. It is located in a non-touristy place, with all kinds of restaurants nearby. There is a hawker on the same street to eat completely local at good prices about 5 minutes walk away. Not so positive aspects to take into account: check-in cannot be done from 2am-7am, towels are rented for $2, storage space in the common rooms is limited, stairs to access the beds from above are somewhat uncomfortable. Some toilets are somewhat narrow. In short, very simple accommodation but suitable for tight budgets. Singapore is fascinating, and well worth spending several days visiting.
