Skiathos Avaton Hotel, Philian Hotels & Resorts

From check in to check out, the hotel did not disappoint. Asking for directions, getting the bus, asking where the local shop was and restaurant recommendations the staff were always there with a smile on their faces, happy to help with anything. It was our first holiday with our 8 month old daughter and the friendly staff put us at ease, especially Seriana and Alex. The beds at the pool were great and provided some shade for our little one. Highly recommend the restaurant at the hotel for either lunch or dinner. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day. Would definitely recommend.

From the welcome to the farewell the team at the Avaton are amazing, so friendly and accommodating. Our stay was very pleasant, the food delicious and our room was clean and tidy. The cleaning staff did a fab job every day with fresh towels and as for the bed - one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on! Thank you for a fabulous holiday - keep being amazing and we will be back soon

Such a lovely hotel , me and my partner have even talked about coming back annually ! The staff were incredible and the food and drinks were amazing, it is just a short walk from the town and a lovely beach. The rooms are small but plenty big enough as a base whilst you’re in Skiathos as you will most likely be outside most of the time! We 100% recommend this hotel and will defo be coming back!

Positives - great location, staff are very helpful and friendly, food is nice, wifi good and beds comfortable. Not so good - the photos of the hotel and rooms are not very representative of what it is actually like, the rooms are small, not enough space to put things in the room or bathroom, the pool is tired and instead of the boutique feel I was expecting (and the photos imply) it feels like somewhere I would have stayed 20 years ago. When laying in bed you can hear the crashing and baking from the restaurant and bar area very loudly. We don't normally come back to the same island/place so quickly but had a great time in Skiathos last year so thought we would return, this year to somewhere closer to town.

We chose black pepper to have our dinner. The a**osphere was so nice, it made us want to have a drink in the beautiful bar. The drinks were as perfect as the food. We will definitely come again. A mentionable fact is that the restaurant is part of very beautiful close to the center of the island.

The only way I can describe this hotel is grim. The photographs and previous reviews are wonderful but this hotel was very dirty, photos attached of our "extremely small bathroom". The breakfast was cold and poor. Had hi hopes for Skiathos, which didn't disappoint but would avoid this hotel. The shower was disgusting, the shower head was cleaned on request but should of been unnecessary.

Just returned from 10 nights at the Avaton Hotel. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. Standard - Excellent for a small hotel. Location - 10/15 walk down a slight incline to the road. Town either along a busy road (no footpaths) or you could take a path which is a little more challenging for those who struggle walking. Away from the hustle & bustle of town, very quiet. Pool area - Small but always sun loungers available because most people are out on trips or at the beaches. Sun loungers are so comfy. Bar - Cost of drinks was typical of the area, beer 5 euro or cocktail 10 plus. Not sure if they serve snacks during the day. Restaurant (Black Pepper) - Amazing food, ate here twice, which is unusual for us, very rarely eat in the hotel at night. The menu doesn't alter, but enough choice for 2/3 nights. Staff - They couldn't do enough for you, considering it was the last week of 6 month stint they still had a smile on their face & would go out of their way to say good morning. Any trips. advice or car/quad hire you may need speak to the staff. They'll either advise or book it for you at no extra cost. The negatives are. Room & bathrooms - immaculately clean, on the small size, but very nicely decorated etc. Needed storage above the decent size wardrobe but they'd boxed it off. Maid came in everyday, even though we said we was OK. Cats - The island has lots of them, wouldn't harm one, but don't want to be pestered by them either. 2 in town on separate evening decided to urinate on me. However I was only bitten 3 times, so maybe that wasn't a bad thing.
