Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel

A little dated but nice. Great location but rather expensive!

The hotel is ideally situated for a short trip to Stratford upon Avon. Just a short walk into the centre. The rooms are comfortable and the bed was large. Car parking is easy and plentiful. Not too expensive. On the downside (slightly) there is no lift. But only 2 floors. The staff that we dealt with were friendly and helpful. No issues required resolving. We didn’t use the leisure facilities.

The setting is super for visiting the sights and the hotel is a beautiful historic building. The modern spa was nice to use but we found the room quite basic and could do with a freshen up and very disappointed that there where no hot drink making facilities in the room. We had the breakfast included in our room cost and we were very disappointed in that - everything was swimming in grease and the black pudding and potato rosti were very over cooked so we could not finish our meal. The car park is £7 per nights stay but were were not made aware of this beforehand. We would probably stay again but would upgrade to a room in the old part of the building and won't have the cooked breakfast.

Very nice hotel staff excellent

Disappointed at accommodation being a modern wing at the back of the hotel. Just had Caesar Salad which was whole bowl if lettuce smothered with Caesar Salad dressing. Response to complaint !I’ll tell the chef’. And ………. Won’t be dining again

Just returned from a 1 night stay, we entered the rear car park and the rooms to the rear didnt look to inviting but as we stayed it the main manor house we cant comment. We were above the bar area. The room itself was ok, maybe a little tired and in particolar the bathroom could do some modernisation. The floors and bed creaked a great deal and as it was hot and we needed the windows open it was very noisy as next to main road. Staff all pleasant Swimming pool facilities are not within the hotel itself a short walk around the grounds we were advised breakfast was £18 if you pre-book or £24 on same day so we paid this. We had salmon and scrambled eggs which had a £6 additional cost. At £24 this was not worth the money very small I would stay here again as very handy to walk to stratford and nice grounds

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. it was my partners birthday and it looked online to be a lovely spa get away. As soon as you drive in it looks like a travel lodge you'd pull into at a service station. We tried to look past the outside. The rooms are not too bad although it sounded like we wore sleeping in the car park. You will not get a quiet night sleep here. Then onto the "spa" which is a local leisure centre. We got took into the relaxation room where we had to share a bed so not very relaxing. We booked the hotel and spa deal which included a 25 minute massage, mine started at 4:10 and ended at 4:25. I know the exact times as I was wearing my watch. Afterwards we thaught we would relax by the pool. Unfortunately there are only 6 beds which had been taken, then you had children splashing and playing about in the pool which I don't mind but when you plan a spa night away you expect to relax, this is not the case. As we wore so disappointed at this stage we ended up going into town to wetherspoons for dinner. The best part of the expiernce. Fast forward to the morning we had booked breakfast for 9am, we show up to be told there is no tables, we reply but we've booked for 9am to which the lovely lady told us what is she suppose to do not let people in?. Overall an absolute terrible le expiernce. They charge champagne prices for a lemonade expiernce.
