The sea is the worst in Cancun. Not only because of zargasos but also for rocks in the middle of it. It ruins the entire perception of cancun. A part from that “small detail” the staff was perfect, food and drinks good. We found a cucaracha under our bed... we were at las casitas.

This is the first 5* star hotel I’ve been to that does not give you champagne, not even on arrival. Paid for all inclusive but that’s not what you receive. Constantly trying to charge you extra. This is also the first hotel that won’t provide you with a universal charger once again they wanted extra money. The hotel was pretty but the smell ruined the whole trip. The food was mediocre, once again was pretty but bland. The country has too many daily charges and fines. I would not return to Mexico. My bag was stolen on an excursion and never recovered either. My your looking for a luxury hotel don’t go to this one.

Good bye EDR! This is my last trip to a once thriving and beautiful resort. The split from Karisma has really taken a toll on the hotel. Occupancy is low and there is a malaise from many of the overspread staff who were once known for the response ‘excellente’! While still beautiful—the maintenance is not what it once was. Restaurants are closed on alternate days and the food quality varies a lot based on location and day. Hopefully, they survive their current situation.

Im so frustrated! At check out we were accidentally charged an extra $500 USD and I've been having a horrible time trying to get it back, even over a month later! Pick somewhere with better customer service! Would NOT recommend this nightmare, we had a fun time but they're doing a terrible job of correcting their mistake and it's been a headache. Feels like we were stolen from.

We already wish we were back at El Dorado Royale with our friends and family!! We visited 5/14 - 5/20 and brought our loved ones with us for our wedding. Although we held our actual wedding offsite, our room block was at Royale and we held our rehearsal dinner and welcome party also on the property (at Generations). All of our guests cannot stop raving about the experience - the pools were so much fun, the food was amazing considering it was all inclusive, the staff were all so friendly, the grounds were beautiful and well-kept...the list can go on! We cannot wait to go back; maybe we'll have an annual "vow renewal" aka an annual friends and family trip! If you are getting married there or really holding any event, I cannot recommend Miriam (Groups and Convention Manager) enough. I want to be friends with her forever she is just so kind, amazing at her job, and truly cares about her guests. She coordinated our rehearsal dinner and welcome party seamlessly. She worked with the budget we had, providing multiple options and never pressuring us to do/not do something. We brought decorations from home for our welcome party and I did not realize how much me + my family collectively brought until it was all in one room and I was assembling it for Miriam to take and set up. She was so understanding, sweet and even excited about the decorations. She and another amazing woman (I sadly cannot remember her name) both teamed up to set our disco welcome party up. All of our guests were blown away with the resort, and the venue (Generations pier).

Absolutely love EDR! The service and food are great! I felt very pampered and taken care of during the entire stay. Our butler, Hugo, was fantastic! Noel, the swim up bartender at the Spot Pool, makes excellent drinks. The Martini Bar is fabulous; you just have to go in and try a martini - I favor the chocolate martini but have also liked many others. Our favorite server had to be Jonathon at Jade restaurant. Italia Villa, Italia Casita, Santa Fe Grill, and Jade were our favorite dinners. We return to EDR every other year for vacation. We love the atmosphere, the food, great service, and chill vibe. The new, more inclusive, Catamaran snorkel option at Maroma was amazing. LOVED it! And at no extra cost.

This was our second trip to this resort and several things have changed since 2019. We usually like to alternate between pool days and beach days. There is no longer any beach area where you can get into the ocean. It was washed away in a storm. There are some nice sandy areas where you can sit and look at the ocean. But the view isn’t great due to the large pylons that have been placed to reduce erosion. I certainly understand that, but the view was a bit disappointing. They offer an excursion to Maroma Beach which was included in our price. At Maroma Beach we could get into the ocean, sit in lounge chairs under a palm tree and relax. The food and drinks were still included, and it was delicious. This was a nice day and satisfied our craving for a true “beach day”. Be sure to ask about this because they didn’t tell us about that at checkin or with our concierge. The food and drinks at El Dorado are still the best we have had at any Mexican all-inclusive property. We especially enjoyed the Fuentes Dinner Theater. Get the wine pairing!! The food at La Isla but the pool was amazing too. Don’t miss out on the tacos there. So delicious! We did a couples massage and hydrotherapy one day. It was amazing. My therapist was Angie and she was so good. We had a swim out room and it was really nice to be able to walk out and get right in the “lazy river.” (It doesn’t have any current like a true lazy river). From there we could walk through the water over to the Fuentes pool and belly up to the bar. We were a bit apprehensive about the swim out room..would we like our neighbors? But it was really quiet and we were not disturbed at all. There seems to be a real lack of staffing. At checkin, there were only 2 staff to help. At one point the line to check in was at least 8 people deep, they waited at least 30 minutes. They really need to be more efficient with that. There was NO wait staff to bring drinks or food at the pool. You have to get into the water and go to the swim up bar, or walk somewhere else. That’s a big disappointment compared to our previous trip. Also it seemed like a long wait for a golf cart to shuttle us to the other side. We just ended up walking. We heard from members that there’s new management and things haven’t really settled down since the new folks took over. I hope they improve the staffing…the service was not nearly as good as in the past or at other resorts we have been.

Very large and well laid out resort. The service was excellent and landscaping pristine. Pools are excellent with bars to swim up to and grab drinks, beach is good thought there are lots of concrete bunkers from years ago that make the view ik

We attended members week and were so excited to experience it for our first time. We had 4 family members with us. On our third day there my husband shattered his ankle. It was bad enough that he needed surgery. The staff doctor came to our room and helped us through the process and guided us to a reputable hospital. Karen and Hugo were indispensable! They are amazing when things are going well but they really stepped up the game before leaving for the hospital and giving us so much special attention afterward. They arranged a wheelchair for us. The staff all catered to us. Brought us food and checked on us constantly. We had 4 days of navigating an invalid around the resort. Hugo and Karen made sure that our trip was still fabulous even with all the challenges. We love this resort and can't wait to return in July.
