To start off with, we were a bit apprehensive, given some of the bad reviews we've seen, and I'm glad to say it was totally unnecessary. I agree that there is vast room for improvement, but I would also say that it very much depends on what you are looking for. We've been to various places around the world where it's busy or lively, depending on viewpoint, with tons of activities and so on. We did not want that this time around, and as such, it was the perfect space. There are very limited activities, but there is some cooking class and some free snorkeling and other water sports available, plus you can get a cab into town. You can also swim in the cenote. There is limited to no music at pool or beach, which I love, because I hate chart type music, especially when it's loud and in your face. So I think it's important to know what you're going for, if it's party and activities and ultimate 5* treatment you're looking for, this is likely not the right spot. If you want to relax and literally do nothing much at all other than read your book in the sun, swim, have a stroll, see some wildlife, nap, have a few drinks and some food, then absolutely come here :) The Pros: Very friendly service, from reception to drivers to waiters. Really great check in, absolutely no issues, although me and my husband arrived separately. The staff were even able to tell my husband where exactly I'd gone and offered to drop his bags and then take him there directly. There are plenty of buggies and bikes, we hardly ever had to wait or walk. But even if you do walk, its really not a big deal, it's not that far anywhere. There is great wildlife around - coatis, monkeys, alligators, birds.. and we did very much like that the staff made their overall greetings in Spanish AND English both, rahter than just defaulting to English. The food and drink was very tasty and plenty, although I can see that for a stay that is more than a week it can get a bit repetitive. As I already said, I appreciated that the beach was without music and the pool only had muted music playing. The live music was nice also, very chill. Special shout out to Juverli, Ernesto and Marco in the bar and restaurant. The beach is very nice and calm and they do their best to keep the sea**** away - although I felt bad for those guys literally shoveling that all day. There were some jellyfish, so not the best spot to swim maybe, but definitely better than I've seen elsewhere in Mexico (less sea****). the service at the beach is great, and they work really hard. You can get drinks and food at the beach. The rooms were large, clean and really nice, no complaint at all and no issues either. The Spa was also very nice and weirdly, completely empty, so I had the sauna and pool area completely to myself. The Cons: Starting with Spa, it was a bit weird that the Hammam is generally off and needs to be turned on by maintenance. When it was turned on for us it was nowhere near the temperature it should be and apparently
