Staff are rude, breakfast is awful definitely give you food position. I would avoid this hotel. Rooms don't look like photos, very disappointed for what I paid

It wasn’t terrible but I definitely wouldn’t book again. Location wise - it is on the port so good to access the beach and ferry, however, you have to walk up ++stairs to get to the main town where restaurants and shops are. I do not believe that the room itself was worth the amount we paid. This was one of the most nicest/expensive accomodations of our trip and we were so excited for our stay here. Our room had mould in the shower, the shower door did not close properly and the bed was hard it felt like a plinth. I attempted to discuss this further with the staff regarding a change of room with no success or alternative solution to my concerns. Other than that, having breakfast included was good and most of the other staff we interacted with were really friendly and helpful. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Il Faro to any of my family or friends visiting Sorrento.

I would think with the pictures showing a pool and daybeds these would be free but when we got there they told us they are 15euro each day to use even though we are hotel guests. The reason we chose a hotel with a pool rather than paying for 1 at the beach. Very disappointed. The showers are very small we aren’t big people and found it hard showering. Balcony was good as could rinse clothes and dry outside but just placed over the chairs. No kettle in the room but can get free coffee with breakfast. Breakfast was included which was great. Scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, danishes, juice and coffee. Location was great coming off the ferry as right at the port with luggage. If going to town it’s a big stair case up to the top or you can walk along the beach to the lift down the road which is 2 euro to use. The bar upstairs has amazing sunsets, lovely watching the sun go down and they have a DJ playing lovely slow singing music which all generations could enjoy. The drinks are slightly priced at the bar though. The restaurant at bottom of hotel was great. 7 euro Margherita pizza and you get 10% off being a hotel guest. I would probably next time stay in town as closer to everything but I like walking and hiking for exercise so the big staircase worked for me but wouldn’t for lots of people. I think the hotel may of said they have free taxi to town but not 100 % sure.

Very tight room, doesnt have minibar. The breakfast doesnt offer much. My room was with water inside the walls, that leading to the keycard not working and the lights and air condiotioner keeping turning off diring the night. Also I asked for some towels for the beach, and the staff said: " We dont have towels for you" The bar is amazing with good drinks and food.

Basic hotel. Room was large and the pool area was pleasant, but that’s where the positive comments stop. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable as were the lumpy pillows. The sheets and towels were worn with small holes. The air conditioner was ineffective and noisy. The shower flooded if you had it on full. We booked a sea view balcony but had a shared balcony with a supposed sea view, which was around the corner. The balcony was also a thoroughfare for staff cleaning etc. Breakfast was basic and not appealing. Staff were rude and not attentive or particularly helpful.

I stayed in Hotel Il Faro for 5 nights mid August and it was the best experience. DO NOT pay attention to any of the negative reviews here. I have stayed in many hotels across Italy and this was one of the best. Location was fantastic - so near port and the elevator to get u up to the main streets. U pay a small charge to avoid having to use the really steep climb up what looks like a thousand steps 😩. The hotel is gorgeous, staff on check in were so helpful and friendly and even helped me to book a waterpark for my two boys and were great to advise on other activities. There is an elderly lady who sits in the lobby during the day and early evening and she was always lovely to me and my boys and greeted us in Italian every morning and evening and my two boys loved that. Our room was fantastic. The reception staff were fantastic and provided us with a good big fridge for our drinks and the trim was spotless and cleaned very well each day. We all got a fantastic nights sleep each night. Beds and pillows were so comfortable. Our bathroom was huge and very modern. We absolutely loved our room and balcony. It was a marine themed room and honestly was large and way better than we could have ever expected. The air conditioning and in room multi channel TV with multiple English speaking channels was a big hit for the boys after each sun soaked day. The swimming pool and the bar ( Skyline) were fantastic also and the staff were super with my boys when they were in the pool. Drinks and snacks were very reasonable. A free breakfast was provided each day and it was plenty with good variety. The restaurant that’s connected to the hotel offered very reasonably priced food and it was here that we got the best meals all week. Their pizza was delicious !!!!!! They were so good in making dishes to suit the boys and changed them around to suit them also. There is not one negative thing I could say about the hotel. I was nervous about going to Sorrento with two small boys in the August heat but the staff at this hotel and the fabulous room they provided made it such a fantastic holiday. I absolutely loved my stay here and I most definitely plan to return - hopefully next year. THANK YOU to EVERYONE at Hotel Il Faro. U deserve 5 stars !!!!!! Niamh Keady.

We stayed for 3 nights at Il Faro, the location was excellent for the port and the roof top bar although small was great to watch the sun go down. Other than that there was not a lot more positive comments I can make. The air conditioning was completely ineffective, making it extremely difficult to sleep, especially with only the one thing pillow supplied. The room was infested with ants in the bathroom and in the bed in the family room. The breakfast was minimal with very little choice. We never ate in the hotel as the breakfast was so poor i didn’t want to waste money on anything else. The pool is a plunge pool at most. Far nicer hotels and accommodation in the main town.

Where to start: 1 - the room did not match the pictures online. This includes the billing website that the hotel itself sends you to. 2 - we got ants in our room within 2 hours of checkin. The staff blamed us because we had “food”. I think common sense says you should be able to eat in your room. The answer - they said they would clean our room and it would be fine. I don’t think most guests want to stay in a room that had ants all over the floor, bedding and bathroom. Eventually we agreed to 2 single rooms for our family if 4. Neither was worth more than $30/night. No air conditioning and a window that looked at a wall 1/2 meter away were the highlights. Because they were “full”, we likely got 2 rooms that they don’t normally put guests in after our problem with the ants. We figured a little pain and suffering was all we could do at that point. The staff also told us no charge (this comes up later). 3 - the next night they moved us to the room we booked and we though all was fine. The room was clean, we had a balcony, etc. then we got our bill and it was original charge when we didn’t get to stay in correct room but for half the time. Front desk said “nothing we can do” over and over. They had already charged our card… 4 - multiple other guests had similar experiences and the line to talk to staff was about 10-15 minutes. 5 - breakfast was atrocious and nobody seemed to enjoy it. Food seemed old and stale. So…just know that you likely won’t get a room that is anything like what you booked and the staff are unhelpful and rude to most guests.

The location of the hotel was excellent, directly next to the beach clubs and port, the roof top bar was delightful. When we arrived the room was extremely hot and ants were crawling around the bathroom and beds in the bedroom, in fact as my daughter lifted her pillow they were swarming. When we put in the room key the air conditioner came on but was completely ineffectual. This resulted in a very difficult nights sleep. The following day the room was not cleaned. When I mentioned this at reception they informed me that the room had a “do not”disturb card outside, no card system existed in the room as far as we were aware and nobody had called or knocked on the door to check while we were present in the room. I also mentioned the air conditioning system and the ants they said they would look at it the next day. We stayed for three nights, the air conditioning was never working and the ant infestation was never dealt with. There was a distinct lack of care for guests and their comfort. With only one small pillow on the bed in a boiling hot room with ants crawling over you as you tried to sleep! Not a place i would care to visit again.

This is a hotel of contrasts, the rooms are very basic, and we were in the sea view room. Think travelodge. No fridge, no enclosed storage, tiny bathroom, tiny shower. The breakfast is very poor, hot dog sausages, no variation, juice from a carton. Now this is not good enough for a 200+ a night room. The staff though are friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean, and the skyline bar and pool were great. Like I wrote very much a hotel of opposites. The overall though is a hotel that is not worth the money. Spend a little more and get better if your expectations exceed travelodge.

Hotel has a wonderful view and great service. The air conditioning wasn’t great and the shower was tiny tiny. The bar tenders were fabulous and looked after us making sure we had a drink. The pool was really nice but small. The view from the pool is through the tables so pool location not fab but was still nice. The walk up to main square was not very nice however after a few days we discovered there was a lift you could take. Would have loved to have know this before having to sweat out a weeks worth of sweat in 20mins to get up the stairs. So highly recommend taking the lift to save yourself from dripping at 8:30am from walking what seems to be a 5 min walk but they don’t tell you about the stair 😂 Could have been worst. The hotel facilities were great for what we needed. Air conditioning could have been better. But great stay

We got to sorrento by boat, from Nápoles. When we arrived we were happily surprised to see how close the hotel was to port, making it close to the beaches. We arrived around 12pm, and the receptionist told us that the check in was at 3pm. They offered to keep our bags with them while we went to beach. After a lovely time at the beach we came back at 15:30 hoping our room would be ready. The staff said it wasn’t ready and we had to wait 10 minutes more. We were upset about the delay for our check in and the staff lied saying they gave us a room upgrade, which wasn’t true because the bags were already tagged with the room number. We got to our room which was big, clean and spaceous. We were very excited about the hotel from its pictures. We were happy about the pool, but once we got there the sunbed cost 15 euros each, the same price as a sunbed at the beach, or even more expensive. 15 euros in a hotel that you are already paying?????!!!! So unfriendly to your guests, it’s outrageous! No wonder no one was lying in their sun beds… The hotel has a restaurant downstairs that was excellent, definitely recommend! Staff could be A LOT NICER. They would always speak as if they were looking down on us, as if we weren’t paying customers. Overall ok expierence for the price.
