First: I don't often take the time to write reviews and when I do, RARELY leave a 5 star review for anything, I think it's kinda cheesy and I feel like people probably write it off as fake. So having said all that, I am taking the time because Maravilla deserves every bit of 5 stars in my opinion. If you've looked at pictures and read reviews then you know that Maravilla is a unique place. Beautiful, very well done, well maintained elegantly rustic tree house "Robinson Crusoe-esque, type of place. The cabinas are so cool, very comfortable, clean, airy, and cozy. Mosquito nets are provided however honestly because of the constant refreshing breeze coming off the ocean all night are not really needed. But a very thoughtful gesture. We stayed in the treehouse family bungalow that has two levels, it has a jump off platform right into the pool for refreshing morning plunges after a night of incredible slumber, lulled to sleep by waves breaking on the beach 150 feet away. My experience of the staff is that they were all fun, helpful and accommodating. I am working on becoming more fluent with Spanish and all the people were more than happy to patiently entertain my efforts, give encouraging feedback but also helpful correction. That's a rarity in my experience. I was also so fortunate to have an opportunity to do an hour yoga session with Clemence the manager/on site yoga instructor. What a delightful person she is! and what an incredible experience. The one hour felt more like five, and was so incredibly relaxing, calming, centering....ALL the things I needed in that moment to ground myself and set the remainder of my voyage on such a positive track. I agree with other reviewers the beach is gorgeous, it is also quite private, not crowded like beaches down in Cabarete. Night time fires are permitted which is a big bonus to me. I love chilling by a nice late night beach fire!! I can't say enough great things about Maravilla. I'm not a resort person, I fell most at home in places like this that foster a bit of a sense of feeling away, and just a bit more intrepid. I'm just not the resort type, I don't like feeling like a pampered, over indulgent, walking ATM machine... I am so thankful when I can find options like maravilla on my travels. Some other places I have stayed in the same vein are Martz farm in Belize, and Tendacayou in Guadeloupe. Very similar type places with similar rustic elegance. Much love to you Maravilla staff!! Please keep up the great work.
