Myself and a friend stayed the night . Rooms alright and to be expected for the price .clean tidy, everything you need . breakfast was spot on .and the host was spot on

Best little b&b in Shields fact... Duncan is the main man,chief cook and bottle washer.Customer service skills suited to a 5 star hotel,accommodating,approachable,friendly great cook. Is there an end to this man's talents,I think not. The room had two beds one single one double,miss match furniture,a kitchenette inc sink,microwave, hob and fridge along with wash hand basin a d mirror,towels supplied.(1st floor for wc's and showers).The room was clean and homely,like staying over at a friend's house. Breakfast included and boy what a breakfast,full English,endless coffee,toast continental Inc fruit juice. Would never go by this hotel ,best price and so close to all amenities. Duncan I thank you again u r the star of the show see u soon x

Could not have been better fabulous host very clean fantastic breakfast near too train station would recommend too anyone very helpful friendly and I’d give it five stars definitely not understand negative comments we was treated with great respect

i don’t even want to get into the point of this, went in 2024 and still left traumatized i am NOT ok i am NOT doing ok at all everything is going wrong i can’t even even even even type anymore i haven’t been the same there is walls and doors and walls and doors and walls and doors and just everything.

Male staff barged into our hotel room when we were in bed and the door was locked because there was a 'smell' they didn't like despite us both being extremely respectful and considerate towards the property and people in it. He then said he'd already been into our room and talked down to both of us We found another lovely hotel around the corner as we weren't staying in an unwelcoming accommodation with rude misogynistic men I personally have had trauma in my life relating to men so having a strange man seeing me essentially in my underwear triggered the life out of me

Had a room with double bed,ensuite shower room,wardrobe,bedside cabinets,touch lights and a TV,the room was separate to other rooms as was in a extended part of the property accessed viathw rear garden (very private)very clean,warm tidy unit. Breakfast cooked by the very friendly,approachable and accommodating host (Duncan)who excelled I his hospitality skills to make sure you were made comfortable and welcome. A complete please and really did enjoy the full cooked breakfast after a night on the town. Parked in a well lit side street advised Duncan. I willbe back soon

Staying 2 nights for the great north run after a 11 month pre booked air b&b cancellation a week before GNR! Seemed to be the only option in South Shields without stupidly over inflated prices for the GNR. (I was worried on arriving with there still being availability 4 days before the GNR weekend. I needn’t have been! For a budget b&b you could not ask for more, clean and comfortable (No on-suite in my room this was made clear before booking) for the price point really not an issue. A clean and functional bathroom on the first floor. Duncan was just an exceptional host super friendly with all the local info I needed for the run. nothing was to much to ask great breakfast cooked by Duncan at an ungodly hour because of my run. Was no problem and really unexpected so early in the morning. I was joined by a lovely group of fellow runners who had clearly been using althol house for many years in no short part down to Duncan thanks for looking after me Andrew 👌

Found this hotel online. I was l only going to be staying one night and so was looking for a budget hotel. What a surprise! Beautiful clean room, fabulous full English breakfast, with cereal, fruit juice and choice of tea or coffee. Tea and coffee facilities in room and high quality toiletries in bathroom as well as soft, fluffy towels. Hotel was central and within easy walking distance to town. 20 minutes walk to the coast. Host Duncan was exceptional! Would highly recommend. Excellent value for money.

Everything was great, a good clean, warm and comfortable room, comfy bed and great bathroom with a cracking hot power shower.. Duncan was a fantastic host and the breakfast spot on. If I'm staying in South Shields then this will be my first port of call.
