Halfway House Inn Country Lodge

Despite us living only 10 minutes from here, we went for dinner tonight. We were not disappointed. Friendly, welcoming staff and amazing food! We ordered the all day breakfast and the lasagne, both were delicious! The owner/chef (Paul?) even came to ask if everything was ok. We will definitely return, in fact have already booked for Sunday carvery in a few weeks. Definitely recommend!

Excellent place to stay , staff very welcoming and friendly. Room very clean everything you need . Food excellent. Very local for everything, it feels to be near road when you arrive but as rooms at the back of hotel you can not hear it. I’m just sat listening to the birds singing looking at sun rising over lake. Perfect start to my day.

Decided to join husband on a work trip and what an amazing few days we had here. Food is just delicious, everything homemade including bread for my morning toast and portions are not for the faint hearted! Every single member of staff bent over backwards to make sure we were looked after. Nothing, and I mean nothing is too much trouble and the internet speeds were better than my actual home. And free! What a gem of a place. Hopefully be back soon. Thank you to all of you who looked after us and made us feel so welcome and looked after.

Typical lodge and didnt feel like it was the best in terms of cleanliness. No aircon so summer time is very brutal. Staff service was nice and decent English breakfast. Parking is fairly easy.

We held my husband's surprise birthday party in their lovely function room. Steve and his team bent over backwards to make it run smoothly. The food was great and I would certainly recommend the Halfway House if you are looking for a venue for a party.

Quiet, clean, comfortable, friendly efficient staff. Evening meal and breakfast were both excellent. Hope to stay again in the not too distant future.

Room 23 - The main room area was spacious and clean, however it could have been decorated and finished off more professionally. There were scuff marks on the walls in places. The lighting was too harsh for a hotel room. There were power sockets above the beds and halfway up the walls, which looked unsightly with exposed cables across the walls. There was a powerpoint in between the pillows where the double bed has been positioned, which could be dangerous if a phone is left charging, as it is right next to the head a sleeping person. The bath had black mould patches around the silicone sealing and there was no lock on the bathroom door. It was also difficult to shut properly. You can see where decorating has been done, but not finished off neatly. The breakfast was very good, but the room smelled of damp or drains where we were seated, which impacted on enjoyment of our food. The bar area and restaurant are very nicely decorated - welcoming and cosy. The staff were friendly and helpful. But the property overall is in need of some attention to improve the quality of guest experience.

The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, homemade food and service were great. The room itself didn't seem to match the photos though, quite small but it was clean. Low rating is for the noise which unfortunately we could not ignore throughout the night, and therefore we slept very badly. The walls and floors are thin, so you can hear everything around and below, as well as car noises from the main road. Our room was next to some sort of boiler (?) which made a prolonged audible noise every minute or two throughout the night, we couldn't sleep at all.
