"There were good things about the stay - peaceful location, reasonable car park, well priced beer, decent scampi meal, spacious room - but - the welcome was informal but friendly, the room musty, beds and furniture, like the whole pub, had seen better days (there had clearly been a lot of money invested but probably nothing since the 90s) the shower was powerful but leaked onto bathroom floor as it clearly did the room above as ceiling stained and in the morning there was water dripping through. The breakfast was the most extraordinary thing, advertised as from 8am there was no sign of anyone at the appointed hour, eventually a fellow guest found a way into the kitchen and got the chef to open the doors (about 8.20am). Sadly no coffee and breakfast choice sparse. This place could be so much better if only there was someone in charge of which there was no evidence. I will mention the young chef who seemed to be the only person working hard both in the evening and the next morning full marks to him for being so cheerful! Would I stay here again NO."

"I’m well aware Travelodge are promoting a freshen up of their hotels, he also promote the Sleepeezee mattress’s they apparently use. Well personally I found their beds extremely uncomfortable and now have a terrible nights sleep at their hotels! Shame, because we are snd have been loyal customers"

"We had our wedding at Lanes in May 2026 & I cannot praise the Lanes team, particularly Dylan, highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole team made us feel so very welcome and our day was so special. We have had numerous comments from our guests that the food was the best wedding food they'd ever had, and I would agree - it was fantastic. We stayed in an apartment the night before - which was very well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Staying in the hotel the night of the wedding was much the same - a lovely room that included drinks, tea & coffee - much needed the morning after! Well done team Lanes - you're all incredible!"
