State House Inn

This hotel seemed a good value but we had a major issue. After several tries, even the staff could not get the key card to work. Another room was provided but unfortunately, we could not access medication, feminine hygiene products, toiletries, food/water. I deducted points from the service score as we were left without updates as to when maintenance would assist us. Trip customer service reported that nobody would answer the phone when they tried to assist us. It was not until I inquired that were were informed were would be locked out until the next morning. As a result, I had to go out and purchase necessities. Despite the cost and inconvenience all Trip.com offered was $5 in coins, which is unacceptable. The hotel said they would refund to our card but since we booked Trip the couldn't do anything. That said, the staff was courteous and professional, one staff member even loaned us a phone charge cable which was appreciated. The room itself was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and this was the best part of the stay. Breakfast: I don't recommend the breakfast. The offerings were very similar to other hotels but preparation seems to be the weak link. For example, the sausage appeared to have just thawed and was colder than room temp. The eggs were watery with brown chunks in them, perhaps from scorching the bottom. TLDR: Our needs were minimal and without our difficulties with the key cards and breakfast this would have been a good value. It's concerning that a hotel doesn't have a way to access a room in an emergency scenario.

Friendly staff. Nice accommodations. Reasonably priced. Across the street from the Capitol and close access to downtown. No fuss. Recommend.

The staff was amazing. I can honestly say that the manager is the most attentive and friendly that I have ever encountered in any city I’ve visited throughout many countries. The hotel itself is in need of upgrades that they can see and are working to remedy.

Heat wasn’t working. Staff couldn’t fix it. Stained carpet. Air intake vents caked with dust. Complete disaster property

This is my third stay with this building and my last. The hotel itself is not that bad except the room key situation that they have there is seriously flawed. Every time that I'd go to the 7th floor I'd have to come back down and get them to reprogram my key. I made certain that it was nowhere around my phone or anything else that would demagnetize it. The front desk clerk had the audacity to tell me every time you leave the building you have to get a new key. Which I don't believe. This is the second trip that I've had where this has happened every single night of my stay and frankly there's hotels out there just as good without this issue.

Staff was very helpful- quick to address anything I needed. A few housekeeping things in the room that are quick fixes. Would stay again!

Centrally located in Springfield. Good staff. Clean rooms that could use some updates. Free parking.

Trash! Breakfast is trash. Kids running up and down the hallway. Smelly bathroom dirty shower.

stayed here 4 times will not stay again first there not renovating anything , thats why they dont have breakfast, and have no intentions of having breakfast cold coffee, the breakfast room was FREEZING you couldnt sit in there, cereal no milk , waffle station, nothing to make one. maybe an apple. 2 or 3 tiny muffins, i think they use the renovating, didnt see any work going on. to not to supply breakfast, oh and coffee in the room means no creamer, no stirrer no sugar and no ice. think they need to get with it and fix these problems
