St Austell Hotels with Airport pickup service

Swimming pool was very cold, we spent less than 5 minutes in the water it was very disappointing. (Cant comment on other spa amenities as were closed covid-19 problems) Breakfast was great and the spacing of seating was good it made us feel comfortable and safe. Evening restaurant was too brightly lit and felt very uncomfortable, not the kind evening setting we were expecting (maybe our own issue) however we ordered dinner to the room and were really happy with the prompt arrival of our food and the quality. Great location and great setting, would recommend and revisit in the summer.

The hotel is in a suburb, the suburb of Bodmin, next to a highway service toll station, but there are few food at the toll station, just McDonald's, Subway and a Coop supermarket. If you want to go to Bodmin town for a meal, you can't do it without a car. Because it takes more than 2 hours to walk. So in theory, it should be normal to take away food. We bought food and prepared to eat in the hotel lobby, and then the front desk staff came and said that you can't eat, our place provides meals, and you can't eat takeaway food. To be honest, this is the first time I heard this reason. I'm not sitting in your restaurant, can't I eat takeaway in the lobby? I've stayed in many HIXes in the UK, and I came across this one, which was arrogant and acted like it had a reason. Other HIXes will let you use plates and knives and forks. This one will only drive people away. I thought they wanted me to buy their wine, so we bought it, and after buying it, they still drove people away. It was really annoying. Later I thought he was discriminating. Because the table next to me was eating pizza, so, see.

Great location. Ample on site car parking. A heated outdoor pool. OK in need of some maintenance but just so welcome. Open early to late. Very helpful staff. Bedrooms are comfortable with all the usual features. Breakfast is very good with plenty of choice. Only two downsides. Firstly the lack of a residents lounge - yes you can use the bar area but that is less than cosy. Secondly although the hotel offers dinner on Weekdays the limited menu is set for the month and frankly the choice is poor. With a bit of thought the hotel could become a destination for meals for locals and guests. The pubs offering good food well cooked were rammed so at this time of the year there is plenty of demand. Special shout out for the reception staff. Friendly and helpful with great knowledge of what the area offered the visitor.

This was a wonderful stay in Fowey, where we enjoyed a Sea view room with a view of the water and the town of Polruan across the way. The entire property had a relaxed, upscale feel and the included continental breakfast was great (with options to pay for hot items). Friendly and helpful service that helped us find dinner availability when our reserved spot unexpectedly closed for the day. Bed was comfortable and the furnishings were nicely outfitted. Highly recommend!

We planned to stay in Polperro for the evening but failed to book ahead of time and upon arrival, all accommodation was booked out so we made some phone calls and was recommend the King's Arms by another establishment. We were grateful to be able to secure a last minute booking and to be greeted by such lovely people after what was a very long day!! Danni, the hotelier made check in easy, offering us breakfast for the next morning. Leanne, the cleaner there was also overly helpful, even though not on duty, was lovely enough to escort me to my car, helping me with my groceries and luggage back to the accommodation. Both Danni and Leanne were welcomed new friends who were very knowledgeable about the area, helpful with tips for our planned trip to The Eden Project the next day and an absolute pleasure to meet! We arrived on Friday 5th July after a very long train delay. We was greeted by Tracy and another lady who I didn't get the name of. We wanted a taxi to Eden sessions and was helped by the 2 ladys who gave us taxi numbers etc. The next morning on checking out Tracy was lovely engaged with my daughter about how the concert was etc Simple little things really do make the difference. The rooms and the hotel has a luxurious feel and all is extremely clean. Love how the hotel has been renovated and kept the remains of the jail architecture. However, there seemed to be massive a lack of staff. In the bar there was only one member of staff and it took ages to get our drinks. While in the bar we noticed there were numerous people still waiting to be taken up to restaurant when their booking was half an hour before. Another night we tried to order room service (about 3 hours before room service was meant to finish) and was told that the restaurant was too busy and wasn’t doing room service. This was extremely disappointing when one of the reasons we booked the hotel was to enjoy room service. Then on our final morning we had to stand and queue for half an hour just to be seated for breakfast! You even give them a time slot you want breakfast for so they know how many people they are expecting at each time. Yes the rooms themselves are lovely but the amount you pay to stay here is not worth just that when you don’t have the facilities and staff available.
