Our 2 nights there were just perfect. Cosy yet spacious. The staff was super friendly from arrival until we left. I would go back and stay longer!

We had a great experience for 2 nights at Val d'or Estate. A spacious appartment and very nice swimming pool. The breakfast was very good and service excellent. We will stay again when we are in South Africa.

Beautiful location with spacious room and comfy bed, and a huge terrace with views overlooking the mountains. Rooms include coffee machine and you can have a morning coffee with a view :) There was also an awesome breakfast with bacon, sausages and a fruit salad. Sounds from the other rooms carry a bit.

Lovely location in Franschhoek. Slightly tucked away. Quite a traditional feel, very spacious and some lovely period features. Beautiful gardens, and the staff were very welcoming. A very enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Het is ieder jaar weer een feest om hier te verblijven. Een heerlijk hotel, rustig gelegen in een prachtige tuin met fijn zwembad. Enorme gezellige en schone kamer en het ontbijt! Het beste dat we tijdens onze reis hebben gehad. Voeg daarbij de vriendelijke medewerkers tijdens het ontbijt en bij de receptie, voor ons geen ander hotel in Franschhoek.

Stayed for 4 nights in early Feb, the location is around 8 mins from the middle of Franschooek Rooms where big with large ensuites. We had a room in the main building on the first floor with amazing views and a good sized balcony to take in the sun later in the day. The breakfast choice was good each day, The pool area was nice just a pity the pool bar area was run down and closed, could have also had more sun lounger cushions as the pool area seemed to get busy later in the day. Overall enjoyable stay

I would not say this is a 4 star hotel - we stayed in the guest house (room 2) and the room was very tired and could do with some serious attention and redecoration! I saw a review which said this hotel had 'an air of neglect and indifference' which I think does sum up this hotel. Pool area was very messy and sun lounges dirty. Location is fine, we found it hard to get an uber or a taxi from the hotel. Breakfast was fine, the buffet style options were very poor, flies everywhere. Overall needs some TLC.

I liked the service and attention to detail. The breakfast was exceptional and had a good variety. The pool was a lovely place to relax and meditate. The surroundings are second to none as the village is nearby, but also the wilderness just above the vineyards. That area is perfect for hiking.

At this price point this guesthouse failed to deliver. Besides the initial greeting, any form of management presence was conspicuous by its absence. The suite was very basically appointed, although comfortable looked, felt and smelled tired and used. Breakfast was adequate but nothing more. The estate and suites generally have an air of neglect and indifference. Altogether rather a soulless experience that we won't repeat.
