Very bad reception at that of Aberfoyle!!! -Reception: After driving several hours to get to the hotel we only wanted to eat and relax. We arrive to check in and the receptionist Emilia tells us 5 minutes I'll be there! (no hello, please or other polite wording!) She arrives after 15 minutes!!!!!! without apologizing and speaks to us very curtly (we realize that she is not happy at all) we ask her for breakfast hours, she answers us uh, first I must have your visa card. (still in a really not cool tone at all). she checks us in by slamming the keys and our cards roughly on the counter, -Restaurant: The waiters were not friendly either, no hello, the meal was really of poor quality, I find that so shameful for a normally 4* hotel!!! During our stay, we visited several hotels and b&bs and I assure you that we were received simply but so warmly and the quality of the products was excellent. What a contrast! We who are so delighted to come to this hotel given the amenities and the setting; I will definitely not come back there again and I will not recommend it! -Breakfast: The next day when you woke up, another great disappoin**ent, how can I tell you that it was empty. Personally I find that what best defines this hotel is the appearance. At first glance it's very pretty, the setting is green, the interior is very elegant. The rooms are spacious but that's it. -The hygiene of the room was fair.

The hotel is disgusting. We were planned to stay there for 4 nights from Aug 22 but finally we stayed 1 night then moved to another hotel. There are no reception service to check in, we were waited for 30 mins and end up 1 staff came to argue with us to say we just waited for 10 mins. No lift, need to carry the luggage ourselves. No heater for cold weather. Think about if in winter there are no heater, you will be freezing in the room and no one will coming to help you. The waiter drop the food up of my clothes when serving. No apologies AT ALL. Can’t request what’s the food you going to have. It’s all based on the waiters recommendations. No wifi service until we paid 10 pound to the young boy in restaurant to help to set up for us. The room had insects. Facilities broken. Door without lock etc…

Wonderful location and beautiful gardens. The food in the Garden Restaurant was very, very good. Our room was large, comfortable and very clean. Although not modern and grey, it was well maintained. Staff were friendly and polite. I cannot understand Linda W’s review. Saying her stay affected her health is ridiculous. Whether physical or mental health, the beautiful surroundings and good food should have helped her. I don’t know where she took her photos as they definitely did not reflect the hotel we stayed in. Perhaps she is after a free holiday?

We are waiting for the manager Andrew to ring us back within 12 hours with a refund for a disgusting 3 days stay which has ruined my husbands 60th birthday ...our sons treated there dad to a suprise stay and we are devastated with what has happened .the last thing i wanted to do was to write on here about our time in this hotel but we will be doing and we will be taking matters further if a refund is not given .

We have just arrived home after a 3 night stay at this hotel . I would like to be writing a nice review but unfortunately this is NOT the case ! My 2 sons booked this hotel for myself and my wife as a present for my 60th birthday. There is no doubt the surroundings of this hotel are superb but that's as far as it goes ! This hotel is in dire need of a lot of TLC ! My wife contacted the hotel a week before to make sure we had a twin room as was requested at time of booking this was the first mistake we were given a double room . After informing reception we were then moved to a twin room so all was well we thought .When we entered the room there was a nasty damp musty smell and stains on the carpet at the bathroom door .When entering the bathroom it was clear to see there was black mould that was all over the silicone sealant . The inside windows were the same and absolutely filthy there were also chunks of wood missing out of the frames . There were also cracks in the plaster . I decided to use the spa and pool the only issue here was the steam room was broken and the poolside shower was out of order hey ho !After returning from a days exploring the beautiful are we went up to our room but the smell that welcomed us on opening the door was truly horrendous ! We contacted reception and the lady was in total agreement when she entered the room and was greeted by the same smell we were moved again to a so called better room but upon inspection the bathroom and windows were of the same standard as the other room in need of a lot of TLC all in all I am gutted for my 2 sons who saved and saved to give me a truly unforgettable 60th birthday but unfortunately this whole weekend was an absolute disaster and Macdonalds hotels should be embarrassed with the way they're letting this hotel go to rack and ruin . Also other people should not comment on trip advisor about other people's experiences! One absolutely devastated 60 year old but love my sons for everything they did !

My parents have just come home from this hotel, after having a terrible time. My brother & myself paid 600 pounds for my father’s birthday for him and my mum to stay for 3 nights. They have come home in a terrible state, after having an awful experience at this hotel. They had to move rooms twice. The first room didn’t have twin beds like requested when my mother rang up a week before, so they were moved to another room with twin beds, which had a very damp smell and had dirty window frames with mold around the bath. Continuous mistakes in the restaurant, the steam room wasn’t working, the pool side shower wasn’t working. Also other people have no right to comment on my parents stay, it’s non of their business, so please just comment on your own experience next time. Disgusted.

First time staying here after a trip exploring Aberfoyle and surrounding area. Check-in service was poor. We didn’t have a bank card with us and this caused issues even though we had pre-paid the room. Got to the room and the room was disappointing. Walls were dirty, holes in the ceiling, shower damaged. The room needed a paint and a proper clean with damage parts fixed. The whole hotel was very dated. We had paid for bed and breakfast but breakfast only included the full breakfast. There was a £7 charge if you wanted eggs Benedict amongst other items for dinner. Location of the hotel was good and the surrounding grounds were nice. It’s just a shame about the inside of the hotel.

Just back from a really super stay at the Forest Hills Hotel. We had a lovely welcome from Liz at reception. In fact we found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. The food at the Garden Restaurant was excellent - although a bit pricier than on our last stay. However the quality was really good, as was the service. The view from the restaurant is outstanding and it has such a nice atmosphere. Our room was large, very clean and comfortable. The only negative was the weather but hey ho, it is Scotland where you get four seasons in the one day and we can hardly hold the hotel responsible for that!
