North West Castle Hotel

Stayed at the hotel for its close proximity to the Cairnryan Port due to an early ferry departure the following morning. We had a comfortable room fit for our needs, with ample space for the family. There is a car park onsite. We arrived late and left early, so weren't able to use the facilities, but the areas we did see were well presented. They were kindly able to arrange a takeaway breakfast for us, as we were leaving before breakfast was served.

This hotel is old fashioned, it has old decor, a curling rink, swimming pool and my children lived staying here. Beware breakfast is served until 9.45am and they have cleared the buffet away by 10am so you have little time to actually eat.

Incredibly outdated rooms, smelly carpets and filthy bathroom. Definitely would never ever stay again.

A reasonable price for a reasonable hotel stay. Plenty of positives, our room was fine, clean and spacious, warm and well lit (unlike some hotels that have minimal room lighting). Just one thing to note, it is nigh on impossible to shut room doors quietly when exiting due to the design of the locks. No one likes being woken up by slamming doors. We ate breakfast and evening meal on 2 occasions, the food was well presented and flavoursome. You've got some great chefs there. Staff were generally good, restaurant staff especially so, being both friendly and attentive. There was a wedding on the Saturday and the car parking was at best a tight squeeze and at worst let down by bad parkers! Not the hotels fault but a bit of investment in clear white lineage would be beneficial. We would definitely return though and overall the hotel offers a good guest experience.

We visited the North west castle hotel as a last minute weekend break. We arrived on Friday and stayed 2 nights, our room was dated but adequate with all basic necessities and clean. We booked into the restaurant for the first night, food was lovely well presented and reasonably priced. Breakfast was included in the price and consisted of a choice of cerials, toast, fruit along side a full English at your request, the hotel it's self has some grand features and original decor, there is 2 bar areas both built for comfort with a ray of chairs and sofa's to relax, there were also other hosting rooms however these didn't seem open as it was a quiet weekend when we choose to visit, but there is a information board and there was shows scheduled for later dates. We discovered a hidden games room in the basement and had a few games of snooker to pass the time, there was also a darts board, pool table and bowls. Staff was lovely and very welcoming. The only downfall is I was slightly disappointed in the spa facilities the pool looked like it had seen better days and the stairs presented visible mould, also the sauna was cold, after spending only a short space of time in there our eyes were quiet red and the smell was so overpowering we had to get out. Overall that said the price we paid was reasonable for the stay and it would not put us of staying again without the use of the spa facilities.

Lovely hotel warm and comfortable. Great breakfast which set me up for a long drive down to london. I would highly recommend.

First time visiting Stranraer & will definitely be back. Was gifted a 1 night stay @ North West Castle Hotel. Such a lovely hotel. Easy to find. Extremely welcoming & lovely staff upon entering reception. Classy decor. Room was big, spotless, large comfy bed & view from the room was stunning. Dinner & breakfast was delicious also. Didn’t get a chance to use the facilities but hopefully next time. No complaints, everything was great :)

Good hotel, good service and helpful staff

Stayed for one night before getting the ferry. Was superb location, friendly staff and comfortable clean room. Would stay again if needed to with no hesitation
