The Portpatrick Hotel by Compass Hospitality
8.0 (110 reviews)

The Portpatrick Hotel by Compass Hospitality ★★★

📍 The Portpatrick Hotel by Compass Hospitality, Portpatrick

"Great views over Portpatrick. Room was good spotlessly clean. Breakfast was ok , shame the coffee machine was out of order. Staff friendly and hardworking. The weather was warm and sunny so sitting on the big balcony looking at the view , catching the sun was lovely. There are a lot of steps down to Portpatrick and feels a lot more coming back up! You can walk down the road nearby. Had a great stay."

"we have stopped here before (20 odd years previously when we got engaged) so revisted the hotel for our 20th wedding anniversary Although the owners have changed we received the same great service and the room and food were exceptional"

North West Castle Hotel ★★★

📍 Port Rodie, Stranraer

"Need to take a boat, so come to this port, the hotel room is large, the facilities are not new, but clean and tidy, it's a good hotel, it's very convenient if you take a boat to Northern Ireland"

The Thistle Inn
8.0 (25 reviews)

The Thistle Inn ★★★

📍 47 Dalrymple St, Stranraer

"This little place was a joy to stay at. It’s tucked away in a little corner in the middle of town. As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by the owner Sandy who was a gentleman. Very welcoming and hospitable. Yes the room is basic but I have to say it was immaculately clean, warm and cosy. Has everything you need. Kettle with Tea and Coffee and even bottled water and a little pack of tissues. I normally stay at The PortPatrick Hotel a few miles along the road when I’m in the area which is apparently quite posh lol but from now on I reckon I’ll be booking back into The Thistle. Thank you Sandy for making me feel so welcome. Important when a person is travelling alone. I will see you again for sure."

The Waterfront
8.0 (101 reviews)

The Waterfront ★★★

📍 7 North Cres, Portpatrick

"Well what can we say, arrived and it was just a young lad at reception who did not have a clue, we were shown to our room to find a lady hoovering it, went in and immediately we were suspicious of the bedding pulled back the covers to find dirty stained sheets with long black hairs in it, there was empty water bottles in a drawer, the bedside shelf was not attached to the wall, the toilet seat did not fit the pan, my Husband went to reception and said we would like to be moved or at least give us clean shiedp"

The Harbour House Sea Front Hotel ★★★

📍 53 Main St, Portpatrick

"Perfect stay for the ferry but a lovely town and worth more than one night Really friendly staff who are genuinely pet friendly There was entertainment on when I stayed but due to an early ferry I’d missed it but the band members were nice too I’ll stay again and recommend Only had a pudding which was nice and the main dishes looked better than what I’d had elsewhere Over heard an awkward customer and the kitchen even catered for her Thanks for a great stay"

Crown Hotel

Crown Hotel ★★★

📍 9 North Cres, Portpatrick

"Called for a drink and were given the warmest of welcomes. Quaint little bar area and great menu. Food looked fab but we were booked at our accommodation. Next time at Port Patrick we will definitely visit the Crown Hotel. Definitely worth a visit."

The Portpatrick Hotel by Compass Hospitality ★★★
"We have been before and the sun shone , once again. The location is wonderful.i had requested a front room, with a view of the Harbour, which sadly was not booked as such, but was rapidly upgraded for us , at no extra cost. I did feel that thd breakfast options could be better, with some dried fruit, fresh grapefruit etc. it all seemed very basic. Not many adults want Cocopops nowadays ! Also thd coffee machine had broken and there was only instant coffee....could some cafetieres not be supplied on a temporary basis or didn't long term ? No team pots or coffee pots at breakfast was a big disappointment. All the staff were very professional, friendly and welcoming."

"The hotel's standards are truly exceptional. During my trip to the UK, I mostly stayed at Holiday Inn hotels. The cleanliness, service, and breakfast were all excellent, and I slept very well!"

"Brilliant location. Calm atmosphere and very relaxing. The room was on the second floor affording a view of the Irish coast. Comfortable bed and well equipped bathroom. A very clean house altogether and staff were most attentive. The only noise we heard were birds chirruping and the sea. Service was absolutely exemplary. The food was quite stunning and enjoyed without reservation. However, the price of wine was absolutely ridiculous with £12 for a small glass of pretty ordinary rose. £40 for a small glass of Pol Roger Rose as part of a wine flight with a 7 course tasting menu, and take a very deep breath if inclined to a decent dram of malt. Go if you have deep pockets and enjoy splendid food served with care. We enjoyed it but will not go again as we could not escape the feeling we were being somewhat overcharged for bar prices in general which left a slightly 'used' feeling. We are very used to paying for 5* accommodation worldwide and appropriate bar pricing, but this was inappropriate."

"Arrived to a friendly reception and a lovely atmosphere in the pub. Shown to our room, room 5, which is well positioned overlooking the sea front with a really comfy superking bed. We ate in the pub two nights and the food off the specials board was really good. I can recommend the salmon and the pork loin. The food was well priced, below £20. Entertainment in the pub on Friday evening by Craig Reid and his dad was superb. Great atmosphere right up till midnight. Very busy pub and friendly locals. Breakfast was cooked fresh by attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the area. All in all, a super break, and we are likely to return and would definitely recommend it. Parking was free on the harbour front."

Quay Head View Aparthotel ★★★★
"Lovely clean apartment, only real issues were the TV is on the same wall as the sofa, so you can’t really watch it, although we were only staying one night so it wasn’t a problem. The mattress is very soft, which would be great for anyone who likes that, but we both woke up with bad backs. The star was knocked off because the blind in the living room was broken and there was no lock on the bathroom door, but for the price, and the location, I would absolutely recommend it to a friend."
