Title: fantastic staff, comfortable stay Reception: Liz at reception was fantastic and Helen at breakfast was informative made great suggestions on where to visit historical sites. Room / facilities: Room number 19 is on the ground floor and is clean. The room consists of 2 single beds, desk, chair, iron and board, stand shower (no tub) in the bath room, desk and chair. Self control air conditioning with a window that opens about 5 cm. The room does not have a fridge. Although we had to change rooms due to plumbing issues, our second room was very functional and comfortable. Parking: This is available at an additional £3.50 per night cost, car registration must be provided at check in. Whilst there are plenty of parking spaces, a car is required to get to the hotel, resulting in the spaces filling quickly. Wifi: Complementary and good speed. No validation or password required. Breakfast: The buffet breakfast is from 6.30am to 9.30am and consists of cereals, yogurt, breads (to toast) jams and spreads, fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, bacon, baked beans, sausages & harsh browns, juices, tea /coffee. Staff are very attentive to remove plates and refill food items. Nice touch having a staff member come around during breakfast offering sweet pastries. Conclusion: Centrally located “base”hotel for day trips to surrounding towns or Warwick town. Very nice staff, with a Mcdonalds outside your door step. Letdowns: No fridge, inconsistent room features. Location / Nearby: Warwick town is a 5 min drive. Other nearby towns are 10-20 mins drive away.

My Partner and I stopped here for the weekend. It took some time to decide on this hotel when booking due to all of the reviews etc on the different hotels in the vicinity. We were not disappointed from the first iteration at the front desk with a lovely lady who was super helpful. The room itself was clean and the bed very comfortable indeed. The food in the restaurant was in my personal opinion over priced, but there are plenty of places to eat out just a short walk away. The location is perfect to enjoy the river and the town all within an easy walking distance. The car park is not the biggest and works on a first come first served set up. However we managed to get a spot without any trouble, although I am sure this would not have been the case at peaks times of the year. All in all though a thoroughly pleasant experience!

We stayed here 3 weeks ago and wanted to bring friends from Scotland to visit Stratford this last weekend, but unfortunately the Arden was fully booked. We came for dinner, as we knew how good it had been when we were guests. All I can say is fabulous! The restaurant & bar staff were all so pleasant & attentive. Alex was one of our waiters and has to be one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met - he read that our group had a sense of humour & made us all giggle. He’s a massive credit. The food was just ace, and I definitely recommend the scallops to start, and the Ribeye. We’ll definitely be back, thanks all 🙂

Excellent hotel in a super location, within easy reach of all the centre attractions especially the RSC. Interesting chice of rooms as the building has been stubstantially and very tastefully restored, we opetd for a contemporary room as they have lift service. Lovely staff, we had breakfast, excellent and swift service and great choices. Not the cheapest accommodation (there is car parking at additional cost) but if you ant to give yourself a treat, this is highly recommended. I will review the Woodman restaurant elsewhere.

We had a lovely stay here, the facilities are really good. We enjoyed the pool and gym areas, there’s outdoor games to play and the grounds are beautiful. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. A lot of the staff are very young and whilst friendly the method of service is very reactive (we noticed this in a few other reviews). Lots of glasses and plates being left around, dirty tables not being cleaned whilst groups of staff are stood in the corner chatting. I wouldn’t mind this as much if it wasn’t a 4/5 star hotel. Often staff would forget what you’d ask for and you’d be waiting ten minutes for a spoon or milk with your tea. Whilst the food is lovely it is fairly overpriced - this didn’t bother us as much as we had dinner credit included but I wouldn’t have eaten there without credit. Having said that, we had a great meal in the restaurant and the staff provided a pudding as a surprise for my birthday which was a lovely treat! Overall, we would return to stay again - but don’t expect 5* service.

Health and safety hazard. Very dirty with thick dust on top of velvet headboard…Urgh. Stayed for two nights. Both curtains hanging down on one side. Started to position curtain around the window to stop the light coming in and pricked my thumb harshly on one of the several large heavy duty staples sticking through the curtain fabric presumably where the pleat should have been. In the morning I noticed a small tear in my pillowcase. When I turned the pillow over there was a rip in fabric almost the whole width of the dirty pillow. I had a quiet word with the morning receptionist on our way out for the day who said she would inform management (I did not want to embarrass her in front of other guests)…although this was the same lady on reception when we arrived the previous day and who I took to be the owner/manager! On our return, whilst the bed had been made up and the pillowcase changed, the staples were still sticking through the fabric which is when I noticed the heavy dust on top of the headboard. On the second night the room was very noisy as if a fan was running all night (yes, I did turn the bathroom light off) and for the second night I hardly got any sleep! Very, very disappointed that firstly this room (41) was in such a poor state for the amount of money paid per night and secondly that my concerns seemed to have been almost totally disregarded. When checking out of the hotel, despite a lady in the office behind reception, nobody came to the front so I just left the key on the desk. I have taken numerous photos which show the disgusting state of the room in general if management care to see. This is a 3 star hotel which I am afraid would be hard pushed in reality to hold onto a 1 star and I hope the AA review their star system in the future before the whole system becomes meaningless!

Nice looking pub with lovely river opposite Accommodation was round the back with separate door to enter which had a key code lock where a key to enter is stored in a box this was explained to us as the pub shuts early due to low season. We returned around 11:30pm put the code in and no key was in the box we then had to call an emergency number and somebody had to travel to us to let us in a bit inconvenient for both parties I’m just glad I wasn’t on my own as it’s in the middle of nowhere Rooms were fine bed clean etc but I think it should state very clearly that the rooms share a bathroom as I didn’t notice that and would not have booked knowing this , the apar**ent they have though is lovely and has ample room and it’s own bathroom. Beer was good Breakfast next morning was fine not worth though the £25 for 2 people as you get a cooked breakfast with tea or coffee that’s it it’s just brought to you no buffet option or juice cereal etc and some of it was a bit cold Staff were fine I would stay again as to be honest what we paid wasn’t a lot but I’d prefer to pay a bit more and have my own bathroom I’d also recommend just having a coded door not a key in a box as I gather this problem will happen often

At the same time, we have made a lot of good suggestions for our travel, and given improvements A lot of efficiency, guests can park, breakfast is a traditional English breakfast, very happy staying 😃

GGuest UserHad a fabulous two night stay at The DoubleTree while working away from home. Staff very friendly and they couldn't do enough for their guests We didn't realise at the time of booking that breakfast was included, this was an added bonus, Great selection of both hot and cold food. The hotel is in a perfect location, just a short stroll to the pubs, restaurants in the centre. Will definitely return but for pleasure rather than business next time

GGuest UserThe hotel is generally good and the staff are attentive, but we would suggest avoiding the restaurant.  The hotel doesn't warrant a 4* with areas showing wear and tear such as water-damaged wood, mouldy seal in the bathroom, broken window locks, etc.  Our room was not ready when we arrived, so we were given a drinks voucher. After being advised our room was ready, we arrived at the room to find the maid still cleaning the room. The room included basic tea and coffee facilities and toiletries.  The pool/spa is limited and has a cold pool, a steam room, a sauna, and a gym.  We had booked into the restaurant for an evening meal, but when we arrived there was a table complaining about the food. They had sent their food back to the kitchen twice, and the staff were suggesting they send it back again. They walked out of the restaurant. Based on this, we thought we would order something that was pretty safe, so we ordered a burger and a chicken. However, the meat tasted cheap and of poor quality. The restaurant is charging gastro prices, but the quality is nothing better than Wetherspoons or worse. Again, the puddings were basic, with a vegan coconut ice cream that had an odd texture to it and a sticky toffee pudding that was no better than a cheap microwave pud. In our opinion, the staff were inappropriately dressed, with one waitress having such a short skirt that every time she moved you got to see more than you wanted. The bar staff were assisting in the restaurant, and one barman was dressed in hip-style jeans, which kept falling down. Although all very attentive and polite, it seemed that the hotel as a whole had very limited staff, with everyone just mucking in.  The breakfast was not much better than our evening meal. We arrived at 9.30am to find the milk, pastries, hot water, etc. had run dry. There was a selection of hot food, but once again the meat tasted cheap. The main waitress was incredibly young and either didn't communicate or spoke so incredibly quietly that you could not hear what she said.  At check out, we were not asked how our stay had been, and we felt that everything was done to avoid such communication.

GGuest UserWe were made to feel so welcome from the moment we walked into reception. We bid for our stay as part of charity auction. The owners of Stratford park had donated a golf break of a night dinner, bed and breakfast and two rounds of golf in aid of Primrose Hospice. The junior suite is a lovely room, cozy and relaxing with luxury touches. Maz, the restaurant manager was attentive and looked after our every need. He gave great recommendations for food and wine and all was delicious. Golf - lovely course with wide fairways. Again friendly service from all. My challenge was to get over the water on 17th. I didn’t succeed so I will definitely go back.

GGuest UserBed was very old and small and incredibly uncomfortable room 2007 Air conditioning (which didn’t appear to be air conditioning) was very loud and useless, room was so hot and stuffy- as was the hotel, especially this side of the building. Table fan provided which helped cool the room slightly. TV kept turning its self on throughout the night. Only English tea- no earl grey. Shower was a dribble of water. No room service after 9:30 which was very disappointing and no suggestions of where we could order food from elsewhere. Bar shut and no drinks for guests. The room was a long way from reception and lift. Good points- public areas are lovely, garden really pretty and plenty of space. Room sizes are very big, shame about tiny TV and bed

GGuest UserThis place was not good at all when we arrived we were met by the manager who was very abrubt bordering on rude - the room seemed ok but the shower tray was very slippery and the door to the shower would not close - no sanitary bin in the bathroom - the mattress was the most uncomfortable I have ever tried - the cleanliness left a lot to be desired especially the stairs which were very dirty with extremely worn carpets with a lot of large holes,If you have mobility issues the stairs are very steep. We booked 2 double rooms they had no single rooms my son was in 1 double room on his own but we were charged double room rate which INCLUDED the price of 2 breakfasts - when I asked for the second breakfast which we had paid for to be put in a take away bag it was refused . We stayed for an evening meal which was ok as long as you don't mind your food being overcooked and you like rock hard onion bajies. It was a totally abysmal experience - we had just been to a funeral and the way we were treated really did not help. Lastly if you want a quiet evening meal please dont go when the Cheltenhan races are on - The irish people that came for a meal were sooooo loud.

PPritida VyasThe service was great! There was an error with room allocation and as the booked room was not available, we got upgraded to a suite which was wonderful as we were celebrating a special milestone birthday. The dinner at the Trevellyn Restaurant was beyond expectation as we were vegetarian and the vegetarian meal prepared by the chef was awesome. The hotel decor itself looked a little tired although it added to the authentic look of the listed building. It was a hot weekend during our stay and although there was no air conditioning, a small fan was provided which made a little difference when sleeping at night. The gardens needed some upkeep and it would have been lovely if the fountains had been working. Overall we did enjoy our stay and look forward to coming back again after it has gone through some upgrading and refurbishing.

GGuest UserThis hotel is well suited to the old phrase ‘fur coat, no knickers’. The main reception rooms are beautiful, but the actual accommodation leaves a lot to be desired. £229 felt like a huge sum of money for a random night in October, in a tatty room, with stains on the walls, chipped paint work that in places was more chip than paint, blackened grout in the bathroom, 1950s metal & single glazed prefab style windows and a door which looked as if it had been bust open at some point (nothing like making your guests feel safe). Also deciding to give the spa a swerve, on the basis that a quick look didn’t inspire much confidence, we were truly disappointed with this hotel & would not recommend it to anyone based on our experience. The stay was supposed to be a treat, but the decor is in dire need of a serious face lift. Interestingly, the person who checked us out did not ask if everything was satisfactory, or if we had enjoyed our stay. It was as if she knew it was a total rip off. For somewhere which oozes polished antique charm in its public rooms, Alveston Manor seemed somewhat hypocritical and grossly over-priced behind the scenes.

GGuest UserThe food is primarily Mexican but we decided to go for the Specials. I'm sure the Mexican meals would have been great because the 'traditional' meal we chose was amazing! Highly recommend the cottage pie (the twist of lemon lifted the whole dish) & the chef came out to check we were enjoying the meal. The room we are staying is clean, crisp and exactly what we needed. We spend many weekends travelling around the UK &, we would happily return here. (My food photo does not do it justice as we'd enjoyed most of it before I took the photo).
