As a Karma member we booked two rooms for a week's stay in the Cotswolds with our daughter and her partner. I would describe it as a very different experience, our rooms were in the main house so you do need to take into account the age and design of the historic building that it is. You certainly couldn't describe it as luxury, the rooms are small and the stairways steep and narrow. You will hit your head on the low ceilings and archways until you get used to it! Our room was two flights up and I'm glad they had someone on hand to take the suitcases up, a degree of fitness is required! Generally the staff were excellent, although there were a couple of disappointments. The hotel was in the process of changing the brands of the shampoos and conditioners. We accepted the lack of conditioner for the first night and were assured this would be rectified, but after going without for three days I was getting a bit agitated with the same response which was 'its coming'. To be fair at that stage the manager offered us a free meal in the restaurant to make up for the inconvenience, a gesture that was appreciated, and at that stage one of the staff went down to the local store to buy some off the shelf for us. Also my wife was looking forward to a visit to the Spa but we were advised that it was closed for the duration of our stay. Other than that happy hours were good, and the breakfasts were OK but not a lot of choice if you just went with the continental breakfast. My wife and daughter did use the gym on most mornings, it certainly wasn'y busy, and the games room with a full size billiard table was fun Overall though the location was great, we ventured far and wide to see most of the attractions we wanted to see including Bath, Cambridge and the delightful picturesque villages of the Cotswolds. Would stay again!
