Dusit Thani Suzhou Reviews

This is our second time staying at Dusit Thani, and most probably our last. We had an amazing time when we went in December, however we feel let down this time. Upon arrival, we were given a room which was quite dirty. We had to ask the house keeping to come back and remove about 15 cigarette ends from our private terrace. There was also a little water left in the bath, presumably from a previous guest. On our first morning, my wife had requested a latte at breakfast (we could get one on our previous visit), but this time we were asked to go and buy one from the lounge - this seemed odd. The only buttons available to press on the coffee machine were americano or Espresso; I assume the machine may have been broken as latte/cappuccino were covered up with a piece of paper. We also wanted to use the hot springs - which is one of the main reasons most people visit Dusit Thani. We were told the spa facilities were more expensive this time and we would have to pay 98rmb each per visit to go and use the Hot Spring. Previously, we were told that it was 85rmb for the entire stay - not really sure why it’s justifiable to make up prices and rules around the hot spring. This price increase is listed no where on the website. All in all, I cannot fault to location and the mentors are above average for Suzhou. Standards and - more importantly - cleanliness seem to have deteriorated hugely in just under two months with no real reason as to why. 3700RMB for two nights in a dirty room seems excessive and perhaps in future I will revisit the area but stay in one of the many AIRBNBs.
