We were not assigned a room on the more modern side, but were given two rooms with older decoration. The children had extra beds, but the quality of the beds was average. The extra bed including breakfast was 10,000 Icelandic kronor. The breakfast has a rich variety, which is rare, so I give it four stars.

Great rooms with stunning Views and sweet horses in the fields.my sister and I have many allergies and the chef was very kind and skilled in preparing meals for us. The breakfast had an excellent range of freshly baked breads and hot food, and some excellent local cheese and home made jams. The isolated location was great for northern lights watching. Thank you to the farmer who owns the hotel, it was the best and most authentic Icelandic experience we had. Regards Victoria and Elly

We stayed here on our Ring Road drive making our way from western Iceland to the Troll Peninsula. Each cabin was simple but modern. There was some very slight wear and tear here and there. That being said, the land surrounding the cabins is vast and the scenery is beautiful. You can see north into the Arctic Ocean from the cabin porches and the midnight sun was mesmerizing. There are also horses near the front of the property you can walk to. Breakfast was good.

We stayed one night in a standard double room in the original part of the hotel. We were given a warm welcome and our room was bright and airy with a small deck area off the bedroom with a fabulous view over the family farm and water. Just lovely. It is a remote location which made dining at the hotel restaurant for dinner necessary - no complaints here - the food was well presented and delicious! We were thrilled when the neighbouring horses came up to the fence just outside our room! We stayed up to midnight to see the midnight sun over the water - just beautiful. Highly recommend.

We stayed here during our 10 day tour of Iceland. It was a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful stay. The views were spectacular and the room was very nice and cozy. The food at the restaurant was delicious. I’m stilling thinking about the teriyaki beef. Marcin who checked us in to the hotel and was our waiter was very kind and efficient.

A delightful country inn! The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our room was older and plain but very clean, quiet and functional. The beds were comfortable. The provided breakfast was very nice with many homemade items and local produce. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was superb. Views from the restaurant are fantastic. We would certainly stay here again.

Beautiful view of expansive panorama. Clean and comfortable rooms. Needed to walk outside several hundred meters to restaurant. This would be very inconvenient during rainy/windy/very cold weather. restaurant had limited breakfast and dinner selections. Owner was rude and ignored questions about available milk, if it was for lactose intolerant persons.

What an amazing hotel. Our comfortable room had both a front and back porch which overlooked marshlands and streams and was amazing at sunrise. There was a partition from the room next door to add to our privacy. Grounds are landscaped beautifully with many outdoor sitting areas. Loved the rocks that the owner inherited from his father. Meals are served in lovely room overlooking the grounds and while we only had breakfast, it was delicious and plentiful.

Hofsstadir is wonderful. The views from the room we occupied were stunning and the sunset was something to behold. Room itself was outstanding, while the breakfast was excellent and features some unique local products which can also be bought as reception also acts as a shop.
