The Pines Hotel

Booked hotel 2 weeks in advance at a cost of £398 then 2 days before arrival, the price had dropped to £258. Phoned the Hotel asking to cancel and rebook at the lower price, but they refused. Feel like we have been totally ripped off! Legally they can charge whatever they like, but morally its totally wrong. This price change annoyed my wife, so thank you for ruining our Anniversary break- very much appreciated! Hotel was ok, but no way it is worth the price we paid, it’s nothing more than a glorified B & B My advice- Book at the last minute and you will get a big discount – don’t do what we did and book in advance. Would I stay here again? – Definitely NOT, total rip off merchants

Birthday Weekend Away. Got a warm welcome on arrival and check in was painless, Has a sea view room (17) on the 1st floor with the most gorgeous views from the picture window , clean and spacious with a nice large shower.I pre-booked some flowers for my wife and not disappointed with the selection made. The buffet breakfast was good and the service faultless and friendly. Booked to return later in the year as we enjoyed ourselves that much and that does not happen as a rule. My thanks to the hotel team for making the weekend go so well. Martin.

This week we spent a few days at the Pines hotel in Swanage. Marvellous views across the bay to the IOW especially from our balcony. Generally, we were happy with the standard of our room and the ambiance of the hotel. Meals in the restaurant were acceptable if not exciting. However, the main problems seem to be communication in the kitchen as illustrated by this incident. My wife ordered chocolate brownie for dessert at diner only to be served with an extremely hard totally inedible slab of brownie. A complaint was made and the dish was returned to the kitchen who were informed we were told. There was no acceptable alternative dessert so that course was omitted. Imagine our surprise when the next evening a similar slice of rock-hard brownie appears on our dessert plate. It seems that no one is checking anything in the kitchen even when they had been alerted to a problem. This is totally unacceptable! Again, the dessert was rejected and again we were told that the kitchen had been informed – a rather pointless exercise it seems! Several other diners had the same experience with the ultra-hard brownie and supported our complaint. Please sort this out!

We chose this hotel to accomodate our family whose ages range from 11 to 76, with one being disabled. From the beginning we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were professional, but friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Everyone of us enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel and the rooms we were allocated. I would go back tomorrow, if I could.

We had the Purbeck Suite which is fantastic with huge window, views out to sea. Enormous balcony fitted with lounging chairs etc. Best room I have ever had. Breakfast in room, a little luxury, but worth every penny. The rest of the hotel, its location, dining options etc do not match the Purbeck suite. A better wine list would be a start Staff excellent, always willing to help

Beautiful decorated, modern, clean hotel on the cliffs overlooking the sea at Swanage. Gardens and private steps down to the beach. Stunning view. Staff very friendly and attentive. Room lovely with balcony and very comfy bed. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely go back.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in excellent service, The suite we stayed in all the best fixtures and fittings and top quality, the view was out standing . food was outstanding quality and well served everything in the building was well maintained ,management has gone to a great deal expense training the staff well and looking after the hotel

Very clean, bright and airy, and large and very comfy bed. Decent breakfast, friendly staff and free EV charging to boot. Direct access to the beach is a boon (the sign very accurately directs you to the steps, not the beach, as the steps go on forever!) Great shower, water in bottles and a carafe, everything works. Only nitpick was a bit of a gurgle from the bathroom radiator (which I'd have vented myself if I'd had a key) I was too knackered from the previous days events to enjoy dinner but the pork belly looked magnificent.

The double rooms are not very big and the toilet space is very narrow next to the shower if your a bigger person then your shoulders touch the wall and shower screen. Having said that the receptionist was very accommodating in changing our room at additional cost. This was very nice and spacious with no comparisons to the other room. There was a big television on the wall that was situated behind the sofa on the wall, also to the left of the bed making it hard to watch. But the food was very good ,high quality and nicely presented. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The servers in the dining room was really pleasant especially mike who was very accommodating and went to extra lengths to accommodate our needs. Thanks from john and sally we will be back very nice place peaceful and with great views from our room and dining area.
