The Lurline Randwick

Sydney Eastern Suburbs Randwick|2.88km from Wisfi mall

Latest booking 16 hrs ago

We stayed here for 3 nights on our visit to Sydney for the NYE celebrations. Hotel is very easy to access with the L2 light rail directly opposite the hotel taking you right in to the CBD. But because it’s a bit further out in Randwick, the price is much more affordable, especially on NYE! Even on NYE we had not trouble getting in and out of the CBD and was very easy. Also not far from the airport so an Uber was pretty cheap for a flight home. Our room was the first one as you enter the hotel. There is no soundproofing, so we heard everyone coming and going and conversations in reception. We could also hear the toilet being flushed above and even the pedestrian crossing beep outside. Therefore, I would definitely request a room at the rear. Apart from the noise, everything else was good. The room was spacious for 3 adults, with comfy beds and decent shower. Tea/coffee and fridge, iron and hairdryer in room. Large TV and good WiFi. There’s a communal kitchen with laundry facilities if you need it and a lovely courtyard area for chilling out. We had a daily room service and towels changed each day. Location is good with plenty of choice for eating locally and 15-20 min walk to Coogee beach. I actually walked from the hotel to Coogee and then on the coastal path to Bondi and back, which was excellent. We would stay again, but not in the same room due to the noise.

Oxford House

Sydney Eastern Suburbs Paddington|2.9km from Wisfi mall
OH! Firstly it is important to note that we chose Oxford House because of its close proximity to St Vincent Hospital. We would normally chose a large chain hotel with the added comforts because, well, who doesn’t like the nicer things when they travel. Oxford house is definitely not your average hotel. Its boutique, artsy, personal feel is felt throughout the entire property. From the second you enter Oxford House, no matter who is at the reception desk, you can guarantee your greeting will be warm and welcoming from the very first encounter. Any interaction with staff thereafter is as warm, friendly and genuinely caring. I read reviews (as you do) prior to our stay and a lot referred to the level of customer service. I, personally like nice linen, a comfortable bed, a good pillow, a pool, view. You know, that sort of thing. Oxford House ticked all my boxes above but it also ticked a box that wasn’t super important prior to this stay. It’s all about the customer service. We loved all the staff but our absolute favourite ladies were Carla and Alisha. Nothing was an effort for Carla and let me tell you, she’s got the skills to get things done. Our trip was complicated with hospital trips several times a day and we were filled with emotion and exhausted . Walking back through those doors of an evening, almost felt like home. Carla was particularly lovely and my 10 year old daughter adored her. By the time we left I felt like I had made a friend. Hotel was wonderful but Carla brought it up that extra level.

The Village Bondi Beach

I’ll start with the positive, the woman on reception was really friendly and polite. That was it. The room was absolutely disgusting, I had to swat about 5 mosquitoes, and the walls were covered in squished bugs from previous tenants. The room itself was tiny, the ‘en suite’ was like Harry Potter’s bedroom. Sheets were just thrown on the bed and we had to put them ourselves (boo hoo). No towels were provided. The beds were made of concrete. The walls were paper thin and unbelievably co**** which when getting down from the bunkbed I grazed my arm. Other tenants just pile out into the street making the place look so uninviting. I feel sorry for actual residents on that street it must be hell. In the reception area, they left the dirty laundry basket that was FILLED with bloody tissues just out in the open for guests to see. If you want a good night sleep don’t go here. If you want to just listen to loud club music against your will maybe this is the place for you.
Holiday Inn & Suites Sydney Bondi Junction, an IHG Hotel

Sydney Eastern Suburbs
Check-in and check-out was very easy, reception staff were nice. The hotel has two entrances on different streets, which was very convenient. The bus stop downstairs has 333 and 440 which takes you to the CBD in 15-20 minutes. Bondi Junction Westfield, bus and train station were about 2-3 minutes walk away as well. Very convenient location. The room was very clean as well.

The room is good, the location is good, the train station and the bus station are just downstairs, 15 minutes by bus to Bondi Beach, 20 minutes by train to the city, 20 minutes by taxi to the airport, the price is more than 700 if you book in advance, the price is good. But as a four-star hotel, the service is not good, and there is no room service for two days. The washing machine and dryer in the room are relatively old and not very useful. I called the front desk and said that I left a message for the staff. After waiting for half an hour, no one came. I asked on the phone and said that we can leave first. The staff will check it when they arrive. . However, when I returned to the hotel at night, there was still no staff coming 😓 I called and said that the staff may have missed the request. In short, finally a bad-faced person came and taught me to use the dryer with a **** expression on his face emmm... I have never used such an old version of the dryer, so is it my fault that I can’t use it😕In short Not recommended, there are better options.

Very lovely, nice and clean hotel. The single room is a small but cozy room. Has everything I needed. Services are awesome especially for after hour check-in. The instruction is very clear and easy to follow. Would consider to stay here again. Only thing is it’s a bit hard to find a parking nearby at night.

During the last four years, I’ve stayed at ‘The Hughie’ on 6 occasions, twice with my wife and with a cricketing mate for the SCG test in January on four occasions. The SCG and SFS are an easy 10 minute stroll away, and buses run into the city and Bondi along Oxford Street every few minutes. The building is full of charm and history, and the rooms have been tastefully renovated and are maintained in spotless condition. The staff are courteous, polite and accomodating.
