The entire place is damp and moldy, which caused us red and itchy eyes and wheezing. Beds were small and uncomfortable and the shower didn't drain properly. We didn't feel safe and comfortable as we noticed that outsiders were coming in and out of the hotel's cafe, located in the back garden. The day of our arrival, we requested an early breakfast for the next morning, as we had scheduled a tour to Chefchouen. The manager agreed to an 8:00am breakfast, however by 8:00am all lights were off, doors were locked and the staff was sleeping. We left without breakfast that morning. The second day we had to check out early, as we had to catch an 8:00am train to Marrakech... Again, by the time we left the hotel, between 7:00-7:30am, all lights were off, doors locked and the staff sleeping. We had to leave the keys on a table at the entrance of the staff's sleeping quarters. We assumed the manager was going to charge the credit card on file, they had requested a credit card to confirm the reservation. During our 5 hour train ride to Marrakech we had limited internet access, but at some point, we received a message from the manager of the hotel saying we left the hotel without paying and threatening us with calling the police. This is totally unacceptable and inappropriate. No check-out process was possible b/c the staff was sleeping. If the staff doesn't wake up at a decent hour, they should make check out arrangements with hotel guests the day prior to their departure. After we confirmed that no charges had been made to the credit card, we requested to speak to the owner of the hotel to formally complaint about the disrespectful manner in which we were treated by the manager. We were never able to speak to the owner of the hotel, perhaps the manager never informed the owner. In our last exchange with the manager, we provided the credit card information and informed him that we will complaint to the Moroccan authorities to ensure that tourists are protected from this kind of harassment. Morocco is a beautiful country and we met lovely and professional people during our visit to Tanger and Marrakech, it is unfortunate that we had such a terrible experience at the beginning of our visit to Morocco. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else, the hotel Aux 3 Portes is not a nice place and the staff is even worse.
