Hotel Villa Schuler

Wonderful location close to everything in Taormina and overlooking the sea. You do have walk up quite a few steps to get to most of the shops and restaurants, but it was not that difficult. The staff is friendly, helpful and excellent overall. The only downside for us (and the only reason it's rated 4 instead of 5) is the ridiculously small bathroom and shower. I'm talking cruise- ship sized small. But overall a great experience.

I never write reviews but this hotel went BEYOND our expectations. The employees are amazing, the location couldn’t be any better, the grounds and views are STUNNING. I don’t have any complaints at all. This hotel made Taormina even greater than I thought my trip would be

We had a 4 night stay in Taormina towards the end of a fortnight's vacation on Sicily and Taormina provided the perfect ending after stays in Palemro and near Syracusa. A traditional hotel perched high on the cliffside overlooking the sea. The staff are wonderful - well trained, engaging and courteous making our stay most enjoyable from restaurant recommendations to attending to our every need. The hotel is well place near the bustling main streets of Taormina. Our suite, though lovely and functional was in a dark corner of shade (direct sun for less than an hour each day). SO we did not use the loungers too much! However more than compensated by the excellent service they recommended to transporting us to/from a nearby beach - transport there and back; day on the beach; loungers/brolly/welcome drink etc for less than ¢50. Convenient snack bar/restaurant. Breakfast was a lovely feature, on the terrace, overlooking the ocean. Service by the wonderful staff. Why bother with the complicated pricing for breakfast? Almost detracted from the experience. Appreciate the was probably for the group parties who stayed there. Bit of flexibility or 'breakfast built-in' would have been an added pleasure. All in all a great end to a memorable vacation on Sicliy and Hotel Villa Schuler was a vivid reminder of past service at a world class standard. Loved it!

We decided to elevate our game and enjoy our anniversary at a luxury (but reasonable priced) hotel. We were not disappointed. Top floor corner room with a deck large enough for two lounges, and two chairs with a small table. We had a full sea view from our room and a view of the sea and a snow capped Mt. Etna while enjoying an excellent breakfast on the terrace. The staff were extremely warm, courteous, and helpful. If it wasn't thousands of miles away from home I'd be here every year.

The other reviews on this site say it all: this is the place to stay in Taormina. The rooms are quiet with great views, the staff is kind and caring, the breakfast service is superb, the private garden is a joy, and the location is ideal. You won't regret you stay here.

Loved the location and everything else about this hotel. Traditional in style, very well maintained and gloriously clean. I've stayed in many hotels over the years and this is possibly the cleanest hotel I've ever had the pleasure of visiting (and I am super fussy). The hotel is well located for easy access on foot (via steps) into the town of Taormina, sea views from the rooms are wonderful. With its small cosy bar, very friendly and attantive staff, large outdoor spaces, lovely gardens and clean and comfortable bedrooms, this hotel has some 'old world 'charm and warmth. Thoroughly recommend.

We recently visited Taormina, Sicily this pass October 23 and spent five days at the Villa Schuler. This is a family run hotel in the heart of Taormina and the family was very warm and inviting. There is a beautiful garden to sit in or go to the front terrace ( where they also serve meals) and enjoy the magnificent views of the bay far below. The staff was excellent and bent over backwards to help with our many question or to help make arrangements. Our room and bathroom were very clean. I would highly recommend staying there if you ever visit Taormina.

This beautiful old world European hotel started as a villa for a German immigrant couple in the early 1900s. (Their story is fun to read - check out their website.) What you get here is impeccable service in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are ultra friendly and accommodating. The front desk is open 24 hours so you can drop off your charming, yet heavy, room keys and pick them up after dinner or the opera (which they will reserve on your behalf). Another excellent perk is their lush tropical garden with so many amazing plants, flowers, a koi/turtle pond, and even a banana tree! We stayed in a top floor junior suite with a balcony overlooking the sea. It was so lovely to wake up to the sunrise over the Greek Theater. A bathrobe would be a nice addition since the balconies are not totally secluded. We paid for breakfast which came with the creamiest Sicilian Buffalo yogurt and fresh fruit salad. We ate on the front terrace under the palms every morning - the bees were a bit annoying but the views were worth it. Sitting indoors is always an option with the same view of the sea. The staff we encountered - Rosita, Simona, Marco, Christian, and Elena - were so kind. They worked hard and had multiple roles in this small boutique hotel. The scene here was quiet - you won’t find the party scene. A must visit for a restful stay in a beautiful setting.

Great find in the center of Taormina! By car it was a little difficult to find as there was a sign that we were not allowed to enter a street.. it said trafico limitado. We called the hotel and they informed us it was ok to drive in as we had a reservation, thanks for the advise. Anyway, lovely place 1 minute walk to the main street. Beautiful garden, nice terrace, great staff and a safe parking place, very rare in the center. Room was nice, great bed, a massage shower that we did not need and did not work too well either. Definitely recommended!
