Although there are many tourists, you can still find a quiet corner at the Palazzo Vecchio. The hotel is a small boutique hotel built on a hillside. The rooms are large and face the sea. The toiletries are from the Spanish brand Etro. Breakfast is à la carte; the omelet is delicious. The hotel staff are very welcoming."

"Overlooking the Ionian Sea, the Grand Hotel San Pietro is a beautiful hotel with landscaped gardens and excellent amenities. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful and the rooms are well appointed and very comfortable.  Located within a 10-15 minute walk of the shopping and sightseeing area of Taormina, makes this 5 Star hotel an excellent choice.  The staff, as mentioned, are very courteous and helpful - and it is quite easy to become friends with them. Infact, Christian and Loretta (who work in the bar area during the evenings) are 2 staff members that I highly commend - not only for their service but for the exceptional time we spent with them.  This hotel is highly recommended and I certainly look forward to returning in the not too distant future."

"The location is great and the structure has great potential, however the cleaning is not well taken care of, especially in the common areas, and the breakfast is barely adequate. The pool area is decidedly unkempt and dirty, despite the exceptional view and location. It can certainly be improved with a few adjustments, cleaning and a bit of furniture or characteristic elements."

"Just back from a wonderful week staying at Hotel Caparena. The hotel is in a lovely spot right on the beach ( okay there is a train line in front of hotel but trains are not that frequent and really didn’t bother us). The hotel is spotless with rooms cleaned every day. The staff are very welcoming and efficient. The breakfast buffet is really good with lots of choice. The pool area is lovely with comfortable beds and a nice pool bar. The free shuttle to and from Taormina is excellent. We used it every day and the drivers were always polite and punctual. There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel which provides good links to other towns in the area. You can also walk along the beach and promenade into Letojanni which has some nice bars and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a great place to stay if you don’t want to be right in the heart of Taormina but close enough to visit when you want to."
