The location was perfect!! highly recommend.
but in the night, there was noise a bit from the bar in the 1st floor.

The hostel was pretty much ok. I had a private room and it was like a hotel room. The kitchen was a little bit run down but ok. Unfortunately was my room close to the main AC or something very noisy during the whole night.

Noise from pub below until after midnight. Then street cleaning noises in early morning meant we didn't get a good night's sleep.

I wasn't expecting too much given the price of the hostel and the fact it is primarily a base for backpackers. That said I was really surprised at how helpful the staff were, particularly Linda (I think?), who hung around to make sure I could check in when I arrived late the first night. Also sorted me a room to myself for the second night on request and was really friendly and polite. Top marks, you are awesome! The place could probably do with some renovations and the music isn't ideal but at about $45-$50 a night I wasn't expecting too much. A couple of nights is about the max I would stay but if you're in Taupo on a budget and need somewhere to crash then this would do the trick.

The booking was cancelled by the hostel. They advised the room booked was not available and the reception is not staffed after 10 pm despite it being listed as staffed from 8am- 5am

A 2 night stay for the Taupō Summer Concert. A perfect place to stay as parked the car. & left it for the weekend as everything was walkable.
