The room has a garden view
When I wake up in the morning, it’s green and beautiful.
I wonder if the sound of waves will be noisy in a room facing the sea.
While having dinner in the restaurant, I could still hear the loud waves.

The hotel environment is excellent. Backed by mountains and facing the sea. It is equipped with tennis courts and golf courses, all with unparalleled sea views. The restaurants all face the sea and the scenery is pleasant.

This is my second time to stay in this hotel on my second trip to Dashima. Although the hotel is a bit old, the facilities are relatively well maintained. The place is very big. The only drawback is that there is no infirmary or medical services. One day, my eyes were very red and painful due to surfing conjunctivitis. I had to drive to the sister hotel next door to see a doctor.

Stayed here during the renovation as our fourth visit to Mauna Kea. Was very worried about the renovation going in, but I’m pleased to report that it was a phenomenal stay. At this point in the renovation, the main tower was closed, but all restaurants were open. My opinion is that if you’ve stayed here in the past and you are OK without being in the main tower, you might like it even better than a regular stay. Occupancy is way down; nothing is crowded in the slightest. The staff is at the top of their game. Construction noise is minimal. The tarps and coverings used to block off construction areas are subtle and not intrusive.

The view is breathtaking, the rooms were spacious and has a great view of the ocean. One of the best vacation we have had. The price is up there but theres a reason, and you definitely get your money’s worth.

The ambiance and overall property is truly amazing and beautiful. It has the best vibe of an older era of resorts, which we loved for our honeymoon. Views and sunsets are epic. Food and service is great. Plantings inside the hotel need an upgrade and a few things in our room needed fixing otherwise a perfect week. Best of all, it has the best beach on the big island in my view.
