my boyfriend and I have stayed at 5+ all inclusive resorts at various islands and this is the first one to disappoint us. I truly don’t know how this resort has 4 stars. we typically go for hotels with 4+ stars, great reviews of food, location, staff and modern look. however, we decided to give up the modern/aesthetic look as turks and caicos is an expensive island & enjoy all inclusive. looking back we regret that decision. alexandra has a sister hotel blue haven that is newer looking but it is not located on grace bay beach. we didn’t want to travel all this way to sit on a marina/man made beach. but it seems the look/feel and stay would have been better there, while sacrificing the beach. rooms: alexandra’s rooms are outdated, not super clean, and lack little details. I know they are working on upgrading some rooms but they are trying to charge almost double. they don’t offer slippers and when asking for robes we had to physically walk to the front desk as they would not deliver them to the room. the fridge is supposed to be stocked with waters and sodas every day and 2 of the 8 days we stayed there, nothing was stocked and we had to go to the front desk to get more. staff: the staff was overall rude and every time we asked for something we felt like a burden. there were a handful of staff that were super nice (tour desk, black rock, beach staff) but it wasn’t consistent. this trip was for my birthday and only one person asked if we were celebrating anything special. my boyfriend tried to ask the front desk to help set up the room for my birthday and they basically ignored him. he dropped off balloons for them around 7am (and even tipped them) and they didn’t call our room for a status or ever came up. by 1pm my boyfriend had to walk down to the front desk to get the balloons back. food/drink: I have dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy) and each menu did have options for me to choose from. however, after the food arrived I would notice there would be cheese or butter added to the dish. it seems they are mislabeling dishes as dairy or gluten free. luckily these dietary restrictions are by choice but if someone was actually lactose or celiac they would be in trouble. besides this, the food was just ok. again we would have preferred to not do all inclusive and have better food if we knew this before going into it. the drinks are honestly just not good. we stuck to wine, aperol spritzes and mimosas the whole week as the mixed drinks were not good at all. also I hate that this resort doesn’t offer room service as the balcony’s are huge and have a table to eat at. bars/restaurants: there are truly only 2 main dining options and they close and open at super weird hours. it gets boring after a while eating at the same exact locations everyday. luckily they have the sister resort blue haven (they offer free shuttles) and able to eat there. for bars, there is none open until 11am. as someone on vacation for their birthday I expected to be
