Karaa Village

We liked the guest house, small, quiet, cozy, large room with everything you need, tea, coffee, water always available, delicious breakfast, eggs, porridge, flatbread, toast, sausages, beans, fruit (watermelon or papaya). Cleaned every day. Wifi is excellent. It takes 8-10 minutes to walk to the sunrise beach, and a little longer to the large sunset beach. We rented bicycles, they are very convenient for traveling around the island. Shops, cafes nearby) the beaches are cool, the island left very warm, beautiful and pleasant memories!

Very good guesthouse. We came 4 families of 9 people. Stayed 9 days. Breakfast and dinner included. We went to a cafe for lunch. All is well in terms of food. For breakfast, scrambled eggs, banana pancakes, toast, tuna sandwiches. For breakfast and dinner there were always fruits (papaya, watermelon, oranges, pineapples) and fresh juices (from papaya, watermelon, orange). For dinner, grilled fish or chicken, rice, curry, pasta with tuna, vegetable salad. There was more than enough food. Tea, coffee, milk, fresh water are always available. The room is good with a great view of the courtyard, the air conditioner is well located so it doesn’t blow, a refrigerator, tea, sugar and a kettle, mugs, drinking water was updated every day in a bottle. The bed is large (three people can easily fit on a double bed). Every day they cleaned the room (they made the bed, swept, renewed the water and tea with sugar). Beach towels and two shower towels are available. Hot water always! Stable internet. There is a mini balcony for drying clothes in the room and a veranda with chairs and a table. You can also borrow a mask, snorkel and fins for free. Very cozy and comfortable guesthouse. All liked it. No cons found. There are grocery stores in the area. Convenient location in the center of the island. Approximately 10 minutes walk to each beach. On the beaches there are sun loungers, hammocks, showers and toilets. Also on the beaches there are tents with fruits and fresh juices. There is a Russian-speaking diving center on the island. One dive per person $80 with video $100. We liked the rest very much. Friendly and sociable host staff. They can also book a transfer to Male for $35 per person. Meet and escort to the port by car.

We were here for 3 days, a family of 3, came from another island. Cool guesthouse. The room is simple, but it has everything for convenience. Hot water without interruptions, the refrigerator works great, the air conditioner is located so that you can sleep peacefully with it. Very clean, cleaned every day. Breakfast compared to the island we were on was excellent. Pancakes, toast, eggs, yoghurts, instant coffee, milk, fresh juices, and fresh fruit were always available. We were at dinner once and we also really liked it, there was grilled fish, spaghetti, rice, sweet potato, fresh fruit. You won't remain hungry. We rented bicycles for three people, they cost $5 a day, their condition was so-so, the chains were stretched and kept falling off. In short, it’s easier to walk to the beach. Both beaches are great. In general, there are a lot of Russian speakers on this island, both vacationing and working and living here, and this made life easier, because after all, some points are easier to discuss and ask for advice. The island is cool. Guesthouse too. We will definitely come again.

Second time on Thoddoo Island and, unfortunately, this guesthouse was fully booked for my dates in November 2021. The last time I lived here was in 2019 and my review is here. This year we lived in a different guest house, nearby. But the owner of Karaa Village - Mausoom found out that I was on the island and invited our family to Karaa for lunch, which was very nice. We chatted over tea and walked around the small green area - it’s cool that nothing has changed in 2 years since our last visit - everything is still clean, cozy and comfortable. Mausoom is very friendly, hospitable and unobtrusive. And it’s not that he’s trying to please - he really is like that :) Such a cool guy that I decided to write this review! I still recommend Karaa Village for a vacation for two or a family!

Stayed for 2 weeks with half board. We really enjoyed! There are only a few rooms, thanks to this it is always quiet and peaceful. There are books in Russian, I enjoyed reading them on the beach during a break between swims. There were no problems with food, everything was always tasty, and I especially liked that there was always water, tea, and coffee. The hotel has a pleasant interior - not only in the room, but also in the courtyard. The owner is very responsive, everything was thought out and convenient, from meeting us at the airport to sending us to the airport in stormy weather. We'll definitely come back again!
