Hotel Fukudaya

I had to write an exam in Tokyo at Temple University (Japan campus). I specifically looked for a hotel that was conveniently located for me to take the exam early in the morning. I picked Hotel Fukudaya for the convenience but was wow'd overall. The people working at the reception were all very friendly. I speak Japanese so check-in was pretty smooth but I saw a lot of other foreigners and they could generally communicate in English with them. My room was quite small with tatami floor. I had a large window and my own private access to a toilet. Didn't have a shower in my room, but had access to a bath (you lock it so you have sole access for that period of time). It was pretty cold in Tokyo at that time but the air conditioner heated the (small) room just fine. There are no elevators but they will help you with your luggage if you are staying on the upper floor. They held onto my luggage after I checked out and I came back for it later. I only had them hold onto it for a few hours, but I believe they can hold onto it for even a few days. Can't imagine having to stay here again since it's not the most convenient for tourists and I won't be needing to take the exam again. You have to walk quite a distance from the nearest JR station (uphill too). But it was a very comfortable stay.
Hotel Mid in Meguro Ekimae

About 2 minutes walk from J R Meguro Station, there are many restaurants and convenience stores around, and there is no need to say the location conditions! A business hotel with outstanding cost performance that exceeds the average point in terms of facilities and employees! I think I will stay here again next time I visit Tokyo!

Ueno/Asakusa
Stayed in Room 305, a 3 Persons Private Room. PROS: The location in Asakusa was fantastic - a 4-minute walk to Tawaramachi Station, a 6-minute walk to Sensō-Ji Temple, and best of all, only a 4-minute walk to SEIYU in Asakusa ROX which is where you should go at night for discounted food! There is free tea, coffee, and water in the lobby 24/7 and the front desk provides one free mask per day. They provide shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. You can ask for toothbrushes and razors at the front desk for free. There is a communal bathroom and kitchen on the 6th floor, which you are welcome to use. Staff was very friendly and building was secured at night. CONS: The Wifi was very weak in the room, but worked okay in the lobby. The water from the shower leaks onto the bathroom floor so be sure to wear flip flops! The bed frames were a bit dusty and the view from the window was not great, but we cannot complain for the price we paid.
Hotel Hoshi Kai Kan

Tokyo Station/Nihonbashi
To start with you have to understand this hotel , it sits on the top floor of an old shopping mall that they converted from a mall to a hotel/ guesthouse. The first 4 floors of this building are still in use as a shopping mall mainly for clothing wholesale. The conversion has been done with the very basic of building materials and can best be described as amateur hobby building and it looks like it was done 30 years ago . The rooms have no toilet or showers and these facilities are provided just next to the lobby . The men’s toilet facilities has 2 toilet stalls and 4 urinals . The shower room has 6 shower heads and no separation stalls. The rooms are small but adequate and have a TV and air conditioning and a sofa . You get free coffee and tea facilities at the lobby. The hotel is run by a Japanese owner and it shows in the cleanliness of the rooms . The sheets are clean and there is no bad smell you can sense that the rooms are clean . Don’t get me wrong the rooms, furniture , bed etc are old but clean . The location of the hotel is perfect . Subway station is 3 mins walk. Plenty of restaurants and you can walk to Tokyo station and Ginza neighbourhood. As a traveler on a budget it’s not a bad place to stay at all for these prices . I stayed here 2 nights and the other guests were mostly Japanese men and woman , there was no noise at night . I can recommend this hotel if you know what to expect

Tokyo Station/Nihonbashi
It's a short walk from JR Akihabara (about 10 minutes if it's your first time), but about 7 minutes from Akihabara Metro Station. (Once you get used to it, you can go faster) The entrance to the building is a little difficult to find at night, but There is a signboard and an orange flag at the entrance. I was able to find it safely. Even if you check in late at night, please put up a sticker etc. I was able to enter the room smoothly. There are more toilets, sinks, and bathrooms (3) than I expected. There are many hair dryers, Paper towels, free ear plugs, and shampoo treatments are also available. Although it is an unreasonable price, It is very easy to use and I would like to use it again. The receptionist I met in the morning was also very nice. thank you very much.
Sakura Hotel Jimbocho

Suidobashi/Tokyo Dome
My original room had a weird smell so had to change to another. It was better, but not great. They do provide basics of robe and small towel. ¥100 rental of large towel for shower. Showers are private and clean and shampoo and body provided. Depending on room, you may hear people making noise in halls by bathrooms and sinks. Bring earplugs. Bed comfort was 3/5. Doable but not great for my aging back. Free breakfast and coffee was a nice touch. Staff was very nice and better English than most hotels I stayed at. Note: WiFi didn’t reach rooms very well or was very slow. It was more reliable in the lobby.
