Although a good location and a nice room, the hotel is not equipped to host foreign guests. There is a lack of willingness to help. When you ask for help in booking a taxi, they give you a number and tell you to do it yourself. This is not the service I expect from a hotel at that price. I have never encountered a hotel so unwilling to help in any way. They did not help us to buy tickets for the mountain (which considering they are next to, is the one service they should provide! Every other hotel we have visited on our tour has helped us with attraction tickets). Foreigners cannot buy tickets without a Chinese ID. However, the hotel insisted we buy advance tickets, so we got a friend to help us instead. This was the wrong information: we were able to buy tickets on the day and could not use a friend’s ID! It is unacceptable to have such little information about the one tourist site next door; the only reason guests are staying in this remote location. Our check-in also took longer than usual, and breakfast is apparently a ‘tour group’ style breakfast voucher. All in all, a disappointing stay. However as the hotel has a great location and nice rooms, this is easily fixable.

On the way to Fanjing Mountain, we passed by Zhaisha Dong Village. I was lucky enough to stay in a super B&B, right at the gate of Dong Village. Parking is available at the B&B. The landlady is very beautiful and the service is attentive. The room is clean and tidy, and every corner is beautiful. The layout was in place. Under the introduction of the proprietress, we went to the Dong Nationality Song Hall to watch a Dong performance and participated in a different bonfire party. The whole family was very happy.
