When you book a hotel, you never quiet know what you are going to find, especially when you don't know the city. We lucked-out with the Appart-Hotel Clement Ader. It is a five- minute walk to the Train station and a ten-minute walk to The Capitole, the main square in Toulouse. There are a number of very good restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel, not to mention a couple of grocery stores and bakeries. You couldn't pick a better location. The reception staff was friendly and efficient. The housekeeping staff was excellent, and the hotel is very clean and well maintained. The hotel amenities were also good, though we didn't use the sauna and exercise room, and the pool wasn't opening until after we checked out. Parking is tight, and there are only a few spaces. Reserve ahead if you are renting a car. Daily car rentals can be procured at the train station. My wife and I stayed in a one-bedroom apartment. There is a micro-wave, an eating counter with stools, and a dishwasher, not to mention cutlery, dishes, etc. It also had a balcony with a table and four chairs. Though the entrance is on Rue de Bayard, the hotel sits behind the building that fronts the street. There is a nice courtyard between the two. It is very quiet. Our bedroom came with two different types of pillows, several of each, and one of them suited me just fine. Finding a comfortable pillow in a hotel is one of the things I hate most about travelling. It didn't happen here. The mattress was comfortable, but it was beginning to sag in the middle. The only complaint I have is with the lighting. It is very dim, except for the bathroom. The lighting over the counter with stools is also OK., but it doesn't project into the rest of the room. There are energy efficient light bulbs that give off good light, so energy conscious hotels, like Clement Ader, could use an upgrade there. I looked at pictures of the rooms again after I returned home. The one-bedrooms had a coffee table in front of the couch. Mine didn’t, and it would have been very useful. Had I known, I would have asked staff, and I am sure one would have been provided. If you are checking out early in the morning to catch a flight, check to see if reception will be open. It was locked down when I tried to check out at 6:30 am on a Saturday. My wife and I loved Toulouse. We will be returning again, and we will definitely be booking a room at the Appart-Hotel Clement Ader
