Felt that the hotel was overrated and over-priced, though dinner and breakfast were provided. Room amenities are limited. Furniture was rather old. You need to book a time slot for dinner. We checked-in at about 4pm ++, and we were left with the last slot, and got to eat fast to be in time to watch the fireworks. There was a good variety of food for breakfast and dinner. Be early for breakfast as there is no reservation. The amenities in the Onsen were good. You just need to bring your towel. Body wash, shampoo, lotion, body milk etc are available for use. Combs are sterilized before use.

Others are good, especially the breakfast is the best! The only inconvenience is the traffic, away from the Toya Lake attractions, no fireworks, and the bus time is too limited.

On the second day of our trip to Southern Donan in the second half of Silver Week, we visited “Toyoura Onsen Shiosai no Yu”! This is a place run by Toyoura-cho, and rather than a hotel, it's more like a hot spring facility with lodging facilities. The location is outstanding, and from the window (although the room is on the first floor) you can overlook Funka Bay, which is the best view. The public bath opens at 22:00 and can only be entered from 6:00 to 07:30 in the morning. And so on, it's not possible to spend a relaxing time. Located about 50-minute drive from Toya Lake Onsen Street, it is all the way up hill toward the direction of Lake Shikotsu. You have to drive through a small bridge to get over to the other side of the road where the hotel is located up on a slope. On the first look, how could they built such an enormous building on the slope ! There was a tour group checking in when we arrived, but check in with the reception is still fast. We stayed on the high floor where there is a lounge with a massage chair for guest use. Our room is a deluxe suite western + Japanese style, enormous in size, and very comfortable, looking over the river and hill. Two twin beds, sofa, Japanese style living room, closet, big powder room, bath, and toilet. It is one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in Japan. The onsen is again enormous. Very big indoor bath, with different taste such as apple. Outdoor onsen is again enormous, with tens of different ingredients in each smaller bath tub. Example of taste are honey, lavender. One of the most diversified onsen I have ever visited. When it comes to dinning, dinner or breakfast, it is a big let down. Both quality and choice is not up to my expectation with the beautiful onsen the hotel provides. However, the restaurant itself has a very nice environment, spacious and bright, and green outside. Overall it is a nice hotel to visit with reasonable price.

We decided to spend one night in Tōya-ko on our way down to Hakodate and It was definitely worth it. Not only because of the beautiful scenery but also thanks to this hotel. It is definitely an old hotel, but in my opinion, it only added to the ,”traditional Japanese” vibe of the place. The room was very spacious for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids, and it was such a pleasant change to other new and modern yet very tiny hotels we normally stay at. Breakfast was excellent, with so many traditional dishes to choose from. And the onsen right in the hotel is another big plus. I'm not a huge fan of the onsen myself, but I absolutely loved the cave looking onsen and the one located outside. The whole hotel kind of reminded me of Ryokan. But what is hands downs the best about the place, is the view you get from your room, which is spectacular. The view of the lake Tōya and Mt Yōtei is simply breathtaking.
